Quantum Escalade Hd

Featured Replies

So I got started using bait casters last year. I got cabin fever here in the NE after hunting season and purchased 3 new combos. I got a bunch of different brand reels all around the $100.00 mark to try out, and see what brand I like best. I got a lews speed spool, an abu garcia ora winch, and a quantum escalade HD. I have been practicing casting in the yard and have gotten pretty good. Distance isn't great but I hope that it is coming soon. The problem is I cannot cast the Quantum without backlashing. I have tried mono, braid, and fluorocarbon and it is just birds nest after birds nest. I tried searching for reel review on this but have come empty- has anyone ever used this reel? If so let me know they worked out for you.

Turn your cast controls up. It doesn't make someone more manly to cast with the min. of controls, just better at picking out backlash's. Seems people look at it as a badge of honor to cast with minimal breaking. I don't care if I use 6 brakes, have the Mags on 10, or the spool tension tight if that's what you need to throw it. Brian.

It takes time for the Quantum. Do you have any pics of the Lew's? I own both and the Lew's is by far the most user friendly. The Quantum is a great reel for the price, but like their Octane, it takes a while to get it dialed in. The rods are the better part of the combo. But take the time and effort to get it right and it'll work fine for a beginner.

Had 2 escalade reels I purchased a few years back. Loved them the first year. Second year the gears bound up and retrieve quality suffered. They also started backlashing as you noted. Breaks and tension knob are in check and have been adjusted. Reels were professional serviced as well. Wouldn't buy another for any sum of money.
