what kind of lures can I make out of deer tails I know I can make hair jigs

Lots of flies use deer hair but beyond jigs and dressing some trebles, I don't know of much use for it on lures.

I use deer tails to make my bass jigs.

I tried it to dress trebles for some topwater baits and it killed the action of the topwaters. If you want to dress trebles with it I recommend you use very small amounts of hair. Feathers worked much better for me......................AL

I agree feather are best but a sparse tie of hair won't kill the action any more than feathers... especially the way some lures come- with a wad of feathers.

The Tails of Inline Spinners are a good option.  I think streamers are another option.
