Review: Sufix Siege Camo 17Lb Mono

Featured Replies

So I have been fishing Sufix Siege camo exclusively for the past 3 months on baitcasting gear. All I have to say is MEMORY. That just about sums it up. For some reason, the camo version feels like a metal wire to me. Honestly, when I pull some of the line out, it curls up like a metal slinky and forms knots. I have had to cut it multiple times due to knots forming from the tangles in the line. I believe that the camo coating somehow causes the line to have a lot more memory then the regular line. But having said this, I have still managed to catch a good many bass on the line and it hasn't broken once yet due to fishing in slop. I would give the line a 3/5 rating because although the memory is the worst I have ever seen, knot strength and strength of the line is really good.

Good to know.  I use a lot of 8# and 12# Siege.  I especially like the Neon Tangerine so I can see the line much easier.  It will coil on the water after sitting for awhile, but I've not had any problems with it coiling on the spool and causing loose line.  It straightens out once wet.

I left mono because of these kind of problems. I just couldn't stAnd d it. Very nice right up tho! Thanka for biting the bullet and trying it out and letting us know

Your welcome. Actually, the spool of line was a gift from a friend for my birthday a few months back. Now I know why he decided to give me this spool of line.

A guy said he could have fooled me that I was using 50 pound braid when I get snagged up with 14 pound it's great line

Fisher, I like your posts, but I'm still trying to unscramble this one. It's still early, so it might just be me...lol.

Lol same. Fisher, are you saying you were fishing with 50 lb braid or 14lb suffix siege?

I actually love this line. However I use 17lb test, I have never had line snap nor a knot fail. Yes it does get memory if your reel sits for about 2 weeks with out use, and there will also be memory on about 25ft of line after 8 hrs of use. Simply spool the reel with a decent amount of line. You can also cast the memory out if you are using a heavy 7/8oz weighted lure.

But I have found this lines best use is while using a Texas rigged lure, or wacky rigged. Not a good top water line at all.

I haven't had bad luck with memory with Sufix Siege, but I usually use 10#, 12# or 14#. Throw on KVD occasionally and that helps.
