Gee.  I thought you were asking if I was thinking of a new rod.  :teeth:  The correct answer is "Yes." as you can never have too many rods.  Not familiar with that rod. What kind of action does it have?  I always think of Moderate or Medium-Fast for treble hooks with MH rods although I have to admit to using Fast on occasion.

I'm sure someone will be along with a much better answer.

If your looking to spend around $30 check out the berkely lighting rods at wal mart. They are $40 and a lot better then that Rod very durable. They make it in a 6'6 medium it would be just fine for squarebills.

Thanks. Never tried a Berkley lighting before. They have a soft enough tip??

Forgot to mention the shock version not the original. Yea it will be great for what you want they are made for braid so I assume the tip is a little softer because of that reason. So with mono it would probably be like a moderate taper and that would be what you want, helping keep you form ripping the bait from the fishes mouth on the set. Of course if my assumption is right about the softer tip for braid, which I think it is because the description of the rod on tackle warehouse says " Traditional rods often can't accommodate for the lack of stretch and extreme strength of braided line, resulting in the angler yanking the hooks out of the fish's mouth." So I assume im right.

Ah I remember when I was thinking of a new rod...that quickly escalated and now I have 3 more;)

You could check out the tourney special trigger rod at basspro. I got one last season for an all around rod and its great. I was surprised cause its pretty cheap ($30 sale now). I caught more fish on that rod then on my higher end rods, ranging up to a 5.5lber. It held up great and is still in my arsenal. A 6'6" medium should do you fine.

I was looking at that rod to. Over the summer though, it probably will discount to 29.99. Keep in mind that it is all glass, so sensitivity won't be good and the rod will prob. be heavy. But the guides are really good......

Another member on this forum steered me towards the H20 Express Ethos Composite Rods. They look really nice for 59.99$ as they have Alconites and are a composite of graphite and glass and also has a Fuji ACS reel seat.
