17 1/2 Tidecraft with a Mercury Tower Of Power Motor, only runt 34 mph? isnt that just a little slow? Has a laser 2 3 blade motor runs perfect, but when trimmed all the way down it bogs a bit? But if i bump it up a click or two comes out of the hole no problem? Looks as if its tucked under boat to much?

It may be. Have any idea how many hours is on it or how hard she's been run? My brother's did the same thing until I rebuilt it.

Mercs do. Ended up having the engine specs changed to their race pistons...my my the difference they made. We ran about 50 before, got it up to 65 after all the work on it.

It it mounted straight on the transom or on a jack plate? If on a jack plate try raising the motor up a hole.

Yea it has a 6 inch jackplate so move it up some?

With help from a very close machinist, who happens to be a former employee of a company (If it ain't black, take it back), we basically turned it into a race engine. Then again, it was on a lighter boat than yours.
