Shimano Chronarch Ci4+ Or Diawa Zillion Tws Hyper Speed?

Featured Replies

I know this doesn't mean much, but i just held the new tws zillion yesterday. It feels extremely good imo. Everything is solid, smooth as silk and it palms a lot better than a tatula (which i dont mind the tatula size but the zillion is much better). I also held a metanium and it felt nice, but personally i liked the zillion more. I havnt fished either so my opinion is pretty useless haha. id either go metanium or zillion.

How exactly does the new Zillion palm better than the Tatula? Just curious

TT should have just done a Curado I vs Tatula comparison. I feel like the Ci4+ is a different reel. Not finesse but not work horse either, but can be if needed. The ci4+ should be compared to the Daiwa SS Sv.

I haven't thrown the Zillion but I love the Chronarch Ci4+. I had some Tatulas and liked them a lot as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these reels, but once I got my first Chronarch Ci4+ I liked it so much that I felt I didn't need to try a Zillion or other Daiwas. I also have a Metanium and IMHO if it weren't for the XG model I would buy the Chronarch over the Metanium any day. I do love my Met but I like the Chronarch just as much.

Hi Hogsticker,

The zillion is much narrower towards the front of the reel. Its not so squared off like the tatula. It really is much more comfortable. Go check one out at a local shop. I was very surprised. (But like i said the tatula doesnt bother me much but i have weird ET like fingers)

Well you're a Jayhawk fan so I'll have to take your word for it. They were my team before I moved to Spokane. I was under the impression they were built on the same exact frame. Didn't realize the nose piece was different.

For fishing 5" Senkos and Jig/Pig setups less than 3/4 oz, would you go with a Ci4 or Metanium (matched to the appropriate rod)?  I was leaning towards Ci4, but getting a Metanium for less than $300 is an attractive offer.

You can't go wrong with either. If you have the money to fork out for a Metanium I would get it but the Ci4+ will do just as good of a job. I like the XG model in the Met cause of the IPT, but other than that I would just get the Ci4+. I don't find enough difference in the HG model of both to warrant the extra cost of the Metanium, but if you want the IPT of the XG Met then for sure get it!

I think I am going to go with the JDM metanium 8:5:1 gear ratio. I just have a few questions. How does the JDM met differ form the USDM model? And, why does it say 48 mm handle length? tackle tour says it has a 96" mm handle. Just wondering, Thanks!

There is no difference. In Japan they measure the handle from the center nut to the knob axis. So half of 96 is 48.

They are.

TT did a side by side and internal comparison

snip quote: "They share very similar guts (with some parts being identical), the same frame and sideplates, and all three reels (Tatula, Tatula HD, Zillion TWS) are made in Thailand"

They have pics of each frame right next to each other they are the same and the sideplates are interchangeable as well.
