  1. Yep....got one last year. Right at the beginning of the season, super early Spring I got a new rod and it turned off nice and I stopped by on my way home. One cast. Ranger got me. I had my KS & MO licenses already but hadn't picked up my permit. Luckily I got my permit and then took the ticket up to Olathe to pay it at the courthouse and the lady was super nice and took it from my hands and said "do you have your permit now?" and i said "Yes mam" thinking she was going to be rude and she took my ticket and torn it up in front of me and threw it away. Not sure if this is standard procedure or not LOL
  2. Id also like to know looking for a 704!
  3. I bought a jdm Metanium XG 8.5:1 for my pitching and flipping setup, its on an *** Black. I like it so much im going to buy another Metanium. This one is going on a Orochi XX Jerkbait Special. So for jerkbaits, topwaters and the occasional shallow crank should i go with the 6.2:1 or the 7.4:1? I can't decide!
  4. Hey Guys, My name Bret and I've been lurking here for a long time. I decided to quit being shy, as per BlueBassers request. I'm 26 and have been fishing for about my whole life. Just bought my first boat last August. It's a Skeeter SX170 w a 90hp Yamaha and Garmin electronics. Anyways just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully I see you guys at some tournaments this year! Also wanted to say thanks to everyone who always gives reports and tips, I read them and use them when figuring out where to go! Also Brian Ondrejka, you probably don't remember me but I used to skate a lot back in my middle school / early high school days, then I switched to the fruitboots. I graduated with Aaron Smith and Garret Olinger, they were two of my really good buddies back then. I still talk to them a bit. Cheers bro! -Bret
  5. Hi Hogsticker, The zillion is much narrower towards the front of the reel. Its not so squared off like the tatula. It really is much more comfortable. Go check one out at a local shop. I was very surprised. (But like i said the tatula doesnt bother me much but i have weird ET like fingers)
  6. I know this doesn't mean much, but i just held the new tws zillion yesterday. It feels extremely good imo. Everything is solid, smooth as silk and it palms a lot better than a tatula (which i dont mind the tatula size but the zillion is much better). I also held a metanium and it felt nice, but personally i liked the zillion more. I havnt fished either so my opinion is pretty useless haha. id either go metanium or zillion.
  7. 7'3" 13 *** Black. Its my jig rod and its amazing. Got it on sale for 175 shipped. Best purchase ive made in a while.
  8. Not to sound too ignorant, but what does DC stand for
  9. convinced me see ya later money
  10. X was for the 7ft something rod. As in probably longer then 7ft, 7'3 or 7'4 maybe. Bluebasser - I know, Raymond is a super good guy. I've only been in once and I wasn't planning on buying anything...he's quite the salesman when it comes to bundling things up haha. I'll break my silent streak and post in the kc forum. I've read the entire thing from page 1 over the past year and try to stay up to date.
  11. Bluebasser, I always lurk in the KC thread, I need to go post and introduce myself. I'm 26 and just got a boat last year so I'm kind of new to fishing lakes from a boat, which is why the sudden need for every setup. my bank account hates me. Thanks for always givin me advice! And of course it will have braid on it! Going to stop by Mondo tomorrow and see how much money I can spend My name is Bret btw. HH
  12. So the bait monkey is being extremely hard on my wallet this winter, and after falling in love with Froggin' last spring and summer I think I'm going to throw down some cash for a Heavy 7ft X" rod and a tatula type r. Justifying it in my head is easier if I know there is more then a couple applications / techniques I can use the setup for. So what else is a heavy action rod with a high speed reel good for? (Hint make things up if you have to, I'm trying to talk myself into ordering hahaha) and any recommendations on a $150ish frog rod HH
  13. Right now im thinking New Diawa Zillion 7ft mh/f worm and jig(leaning here) Megabass Orochi XX 7'2" Diablo Spec R (worth the money??) St Croix Avid X 7' MHf (new and looks promising, also lowest price of these 4) 13 *** Black 7'1" MHf (already have one *** black and really like it)
  14. I like the 6"10 *** idea m/f. Good call! So now i essentially have 250 to spend on my t-rig rod. Any suggestions anyone?
  15. Well im pretty open, i picked up a 13 *** black for my new jig rod and love it, but I'd like to try something new. My other rods are ducketts and one Powell inferno.
  16. Not sure what your budget is, but the new Avid X by St Croix looks mighty nice. Id get the MH crankin version! Not sure if your BPS has them in stock yet, my local one doesnt. Retail is 200 i believe. If thats too high of a price let me know what you want to spend.
  17. Budget = $350 total for both rods (retail can be higher as long as i can obtain them for 350ish via sales / online deals) Rod #1 = texas rigged worms/creature baits. Willing to put majority of budget here as i want the best sensitivity possible as this will be my main bottom contact besides my jig rod. Mh/f 7ft preferred. Rod #2 - Top water spooks / Jerkbaits / Cranks on occasion. Is this possible to get all these techniques in one rod? It wont be my main crankin stick, but would be nice if it could. im not as concerned with this rod being perfect. Thanks so much!
  18. Alright so I have two new setup's I'm working on getting. One of which is a Spinnerbait / Chatterbait setup. The other one is a jig/pitching setup which I already have figured out and I went over my budget a bit on that one LOL. But anyways, I have $300 to spend total on this combo. Break it down any way you'd like! I'm not partial to a particular brand, just give me your reasoning / experience. Also a line recommendation would be great too! What ya got for me? This will be my first spinnerbait/chatter exclusive setup. Thanks Guys! -HH
  19. is this still going on? it seems to not be
  20. This really kind of sucks and rained on my parade. I've been fishing from the bank for 20 years (and I'm only 26 years old) and I finally got myself a nice little house (renting, but better then my past apartments) that has a 2 car garage. I also have finally saved up enough money (around $7500) to buy myself a boat! I've been looking at older Nitros, Rangers, Skeeters, Tritons etc. Just haven't quite found the perfect one yet, but I'm in no rush. My problem is I had never really considered storage WIDTH. I knew I had 22ft of garage depth, so for a 16,17 or even 18ft boat I was in the clear, especially with folding tongue. But now that I'm getting closer to buying I noticed most storage widths on trailer are nearly 100''. I only have 94'' wide garage. So I would maybe get away with 92'' on trailer width. Is there any nice boats that have such a narrow trailered width at the beam? Ugh...as lame as it is, I hate my entire house now due to this LOL! -HH P.S. Due to city guidelines I can not store a boat in my drive way....I know...yuppie rules. And storage units in my area for the length/width I would need are running around $170/mo, so....yeah.
  21. Love mine! I got the hg version and it's exceptional. What stick ya putting it on?
  22. So you get picked to be on a new game show where you have to catch as many bass as you can in 12 hours. The only information given to you is water clarity. The kicker is you only get one plastic, one crank (hard bait), one spinner/jig type bait. And one rod. One reel. What do you do if clarity is clear? What do you do if clarity is muddy? My personal choices would be. Clear Water Crankbait : Scatter Rap Shallow in disco shad color Plastic : Yum Dinger watermelon / red flake Spinner/Jig : Siebert Outdoors Fogy in bluegill flash Muddy Water Crankbait : KVD 1.5 black back chartreuse Plastic : Rage Tail Bug in blue craw Spinner/jig : Cavitron Buzzbait in Black w gold prop Rod : 7ft Duckett Micro Magic MHF Reel : Shimano Metanium 6:2:1 P.s. First post, been lurking for a year. Learned so much. Love this place!
