Best Bang For Your Buck Spinning Reel

Featured Replies

Recently looking over all my tackle and i think i could really use another pole. Ive settled on buying one of the newer uglystick gx2 rod. Looking to upgrade to a good reel instead of the made in china junk ones you get with a shakespeare rod and reel combo. Should i go with a more well known brand like shimano, daiwa, abugarcia etc. or will cabelas or bass pro brand reels work well. I would rather have a good reel for and extra 10 or 20 bucks than junk. Thanks

since I just bought another supreme from Gander Mountain for $50.00. I am sending him a President of mine. it is in perfect condition, in the original box and with the spare spool too.

I think so.

Yep, Pflueger would be your best bet.

Can not go wrong with a pflueger president

Where looking for a new spinning reel?

Agreed on the Pflueger. Just depends on what your budget is. The Trion is least expensive at around $30.00, Next would be the President at just under $50.00. And the Supreme will set you back about $60.00. You pick the size. Can't beat the Pflueger quality these days. I believe it has surpassed the Shimano brand, which I have several reels and like them a lot. Shimano is just getting too pricey in my opinion.

Pfluegar President. The Trion is a great reel as well for even less.

Owning several spinning reels with MSRP over $200, most are vastly over priced.  For a freshwater reel a president isn't just a good reel, it excels.

Most guys buy expensive stuff because you get the most bang for your buck by buying quality gear that'll last a while. I don't totally agree with that, but I certainly know some people who use expensive stuff and it runs like a dream.

Buy what you an afford and make you happy. Most if us aren't pros so there's no return. Don't go Into debt or crazy over needing expensive stuff. Buy quality you can comfortably afford and have fun. Remember it's not a fashion contest on who has the sexiest stuff. No one remembers that chrome won't get ya home.

I have a couple of Presidents that have served me well for years. There are better, lighter reels, but no better value in my experience. With a little routine maintenance I expect mine to outlast me.

If you can land one of those Pflueger Supreme's at $60 it's an amazing deal, just saying. (own 2)

I love my Stradics, but having said that I'd settle with using a Symetre.  I like them both!  Even though I definitely can feel the difference when I fish them.  (Comfort and smoothness)

I haven't pulled a trigger on a President yet, but with all the rave on BR I might.  My next rod will be a spinning rod, I need another ML so a President might be just the ticket.
