texalium/graphite tube handle retrofit

Featured Replies

I have a couple of rods (a rapala and BPS spinning rod) on which I like the blank and the guide placement etc. but hate the feel and weight of the twist lock grips.  How hard is it to retrofit a texalium or graphite tube tennessee handle to these without removing and re-wrapping the guides, and what is required to do so?  Thanks.

If you can slide what you want over the end of the rod then it would be a simple undertaking if not you would need to remove the guides and redo the entire rod.  If the new handle fits over the end it is just a matter of mixing some 5 minute epoxy and glueing it on.  Be careful removing the old stuff so that you don't ruin the rod.  It will take longer to remove the old handle then to glue the new ones on.
