I'm looking to buy a St Croix Avid X 6'6 medium fast spinning rod. What are your guys opinions on this Rod? Is it better or worse than the regular avid? And lastly what kind of spinning reel should I get for it? I was thinking a shimano reel. Maybe Saros fa but I don't know. And what size reel?

    It's not worse but I wouldn't say it's better. If you want a split grip and fancy new paint job go for it.

    I'd go for weight savings on the reel, check out the lews team gold carbon 2000, its cheaper than the saros too.

    Same blank just different guides & handle configuration. Supposed to be less tip heavy.
