LC Pointer 78

Featured Replies

I've been fishing this for a month now, and have caught a ton of bass on it.  Only problem is not one of them has been even a pound, about a dozen and a half dinks.  A few have been only slightly bigger than the lure.  I use it in multiple ponds lakes, and one river from NoVa to the WV Panhandle.  I use the ghost shad pattern and the chartreuse/purple back patterns.  I try to use varying retrieves, fast, slow, deep, medium depth, etc.  Can't get a decent fish to take it.  Is it the wrong time of year for it, or should I just stick with it?

I love the Pointer 78.  Won a lot of $ from my fellow club members on it.  Still, when I have been on a good jerkbait bite and a lot of small fish were hitting he 78, I would move up to the 100.

Also, the bigger fish may not be up in the areas you are fishing yet.

I agree , you should use a larger pointer. The megabass visison 110 also has been working well for me.

Personally, I think the pointer 78 is the best jerkbait ever made.  As you have said it is not a big bass bait. I use the larger sizes as well, but the 78 is the killer.

Avid....just wondering if the smaller size pointers are better when the water temp is in the lower 50's? Or do you stick with the 100's & 128's if you are targeting larger bass?

I would defintely move up to the 100. This will catch bass from less than a pound to 10 pounds or bigger.

Its not too small not too big. Just right.  :)

Good luck and tight lines.
