Grandpa's Homemade Rods

Featured Replies

My grandpa was one great fisherman. He always stuck to the basics for fishing, and for bass, did nothing but fish the bottom with a nightcrawler. He had made some rods and have given two to our family in case we needed them some 8-10 years ago. One is needed! :) I was sick of my 5' 6" Johnson Citation rod and decided to give grandpa's a try. It's 6' 6", with a cork handle(a plus for me 8-)), and has great flexibility, way better then the citation. I will use this for now on and if it's good, I'll keep using it. Thanks Grandpa!

What do you think?

I'd would probably take it out for a spin every now and again for nostalgic purposes, but I wouldn't make it a daily rod.  Not due to the rod being inferior...I'd just want to keep it around a long time being an heirloom and all.

I probably wouldn't fish it... unless grandpa is still making them and you can get another.  I'm sentimental about stuff like that.  Cool to have something handed down like that!

Most likely a excellent rod, but all of my grandpa's and dad's hand-me-downs are on a shelf for safe keeping. There will be no more. :'(
