Daiwa Procyon Noisy?!

Featured Replies

So I've had my Procyon 3000 since January it's been an awesome reel. Smooth nice drag and excellent finish. But all of a sudden it's got a Geary noisy feeling. Still works as designed but the Geary sound and light vibration when free spinng or working a lure is getting annoying. Anyone ran into this befor?

Yes I have but with a Abu Revo Inshore 30. In the middle of retrieving it back in, braid had sort of half hitched around the roller end of the bail and it sort of popped, more like a feeling than a noise. Geary from then on. Checked the rotor everything was tight. I totally disassembled it and put it together when at home. Back to New but now often goes back.into it's geary feeling. I think it's the pinion being moved out of its proper space just slightly that causes it.

Oh wow thank you for the reply. I'm currently waiting on an email from daiwa

Interesting.... i bought one in January as well. I haven't fished with mine but one time though. Interested to see what comes of this.

I am experiencing the same thing with the Daiwa Procyon.  It ran butter smooth until I attempted to completely disassemble, clean, and relube everything.  After getting it back together it still functions, but just sounds and feels rougher and more geary.  I've disassembled and reassembled the reel half a dozen times, and can't see a problem with the reassembly.  Did any of the previous commenters find a solution?

one of my lexas did this. It doesn't really bother me, though, so I just fish it. The drag is smooth and that's the important thing. I would like to know what the deal is, though.

Lots of times factory grease masks gear noise.

Does it minimize as you increase spool tension?

Josh

I think it started with mine before I ever tore it down. I don't remember. The other lexa I have has had the same amount of maintenance and upgrades and I used the same ardent grease and it's still smooth. It has gotten less use, though.
