Which rod blanks ? (inexpensive)

Featured Replies

hey guys, got a question ! rod building got into my blood a couple years ago, and have made most of my personal rods on Croix, and made a few on G-Loomis for a few freinds. My question is what is a good brand of blank, that is inexpensive, but still good on quality ? with the way gas prices are, and with a little one on the way soon my extra money is kinda tied up right now, but my hobby and habit is still calling at me, and im dying to do a couple of builds just to keep me practicing !

Hoping some of you could reccomend me a brand that is easier on the wallet, but still has some quality to them as well !

(Oh these will be for bass fishing)

Thanks!!!!

Well, there are a couple options out there. I would look at the Batson blanks in both RX6 and RX7. I've used both and except for some clearance sales, the RX7 are the best inexpensive blank I've found. I have an RX7 in my wrapper as I type this and am going to buy another in the next week or so.

Mud Hole has their "builder blanks" if you really want cheap, and FishSticks4U has a few All Star blanks on clearance. Someone always has a sale going on...

For what it's worth, I buy all my Batson blanks through FishSticks4U and would recommend them to anyone as a place with outstanding service. They also carry the Lamar products.

By the way, Welcome to BassResource.com!

(post some pics of your builds!)

Check out "Mud Hole" in Orlando Fl.  They have a house blank that is IM6, is dirt cheep, and is as well made as some rods three times the price.  I"ve built several rods off these blanks and they are supper. I think they are offering them in several different colors now to.

Swampland has some discount blanks on sale that are wonderful for $16.  7'MH I have built a handful of them and they weight about 4.5ozs assembled with micro guides.  I have sold a couple and the people love them.
