Poor Club Results In Region Tournaments

Our bass club picks up the tab for four guys to fish the Mr. Bass and for two guys to fish the Six-Man Championship Team region tournaments at a cost of $70 each.

And our club members, other than for one year, have not done well in these tournaments.

That "one year" was when our club member won the Virginia Mr. Bass tournament.

This year's Mr. Bass was held on Lake Gaston and here are the places our four teams placed out of 80 teams:

10

49

59

71

I would like to change our payment to include a $35reimbursement from each of the four guys if they don't finish in the top half of the tournament, but I know it will never fly.

What do your clubs do for these BASS and FLW state regional tournaments to help defray costs?

I believe our club pays entry plus $150 for expenses for Mr. Bass or something similar. It'd be a stretch to get a reimbursement for a less than stellar finish. When it all comes down to it fishing is still fishing and there are going to be times someone doesn't do well no matter how much effort they put into it.

How do they decide which two guys to give money to out of the 6-man?

Our BASS Nation club votes each year based on number of qualifiers, location, club funds, etc for the state tournament.

Corn, in my club the boaters get their entry fee paid by the club for Mr. Bass and Six-Man Team which now has 8 teams per club in the tournament.
