360 Imaging

A few questions for those that use 360 Imaging:

1) What are the 1-2 ways of fishing that 360 has been most useful/beneficial to you?

2) What are the drawbacks/limitations of 360 Imaging?

3) I'm planning on buying new GPS units in 2 years, right now I have two 998's - is it worth adding 360 Imaging now to use on my existing units, or are they too small and I should just wait and buy GPS/360 units all together in a few years?

1.Sight fishing without visually seeing the fish. Seeing what is where in real time all around the boat.

It can be used for SI/DI by selecting those views. The transducer stops rotating and orients the imaging crysals like a SI transducer.

It can use used with current models in a 2D-only model, a DI model, or a SI model.

2. It doesn't function like Side Imaging so you cannot get sharp images when running the outboard or trolling motor at any speed. It works the best when sitting still or less than 2 mph. Use SI for searching and 360 for fishing. Use it for the purpose it was made for and you will be pleased.

3. It works well with any size display. As with Side Imaging, BIGGER is better though. I have only used it with a 1198c SI Combo and ONIX 10 NT SI.

Yes but how pricy is that transducer?

When they first came out they were $2000 for the transom model and $1500 for the bow model MSRP.

This year the price was dropped by $500 on them.

With some searching, you can find them for about $150 less.

If I could find a transom mount for $999 ...I'd pull the trigger --  Maybe its just me, but $1500 for basically an "add-on" is just a bit too steep ~

The transom model has a motorized deploy system like the Talon.

Look up the price of a Talon, that is just a extendable pole.
