Well, I have finally backed the wrong horse with a Cabela's product. I bought a 7'6 XH telescopic handle Fish Eagle 50. By all accounts, this should have been a good rod.

What I found is that it is terribly heavy and unbalanced. With a Lew's Tournament Speed Spool (no line) sitting on it, its balance point is a full 8" in front of the reel seat. Retracted into the handle, it balances 3" out. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be with a 1.5oz weight tied on.

I knew I'd give p a little bit going with the telescopic but that's more than I bargained for. Now I'm debating on whether to get a BPS Extreme that is telescopic or just keep using my 7'3 H rod. The smart man probably would.

Most of those types (telescoping) ARE heavy.  Even my Avid is, they all benefit from a balancer too, no matter the brand.  I am going to be using my 7'3" Tournament ZX for pitching too 

I've got a 7'6" telescopic Quantum Energy PT that I will be replacing this year for the same reason. It's not as out of wack as the Fish Eagle rod, but it's a heavy beast that doesn't balance all that well. 

You have to add the balancer to tolerate these rods.  No way around it.  I don't do a whole lot of actual flippin' but I do still use my Avid telescoping when I do.  Not gonna go buy another rod to do that when I don't do it that much.
