This is kind of random, but recently purchased some Big Game 25lb in Solar Collector. Its a bright neon green line. Originally I bought it as a cheap backing for my reels and now I'm wanting to try it as a main line.

 

My question is, has anyone used this color and is it visible underwater? I was thinking of using it for swimbaits, but if it is too visible it'll be relegated to only backing.

Its very visible. Good catfish line.

I'm not sure it would be good for either actually . For backing you want to try and match the line diameter of what ever you are going to use as a main line (i.e. braid or FC) . Therefore , I never see the need to go over #15lb. mono for backing as the braid and FC I use are thinner diameter . Not sure about the solar collector color without a clear leader of some sort used on a swim bait - especially in clear water conditions usually encountered in California.

Unless your going to be fishing in muddy water, I'd probably keep it as backing atleast that color.  I have used 25lb green as flipping line and like it for that.

Just FYI, the best backing I have ever found was $0.98 shakespeare 6lb mono at walmart. Smaller dia lays better as backing, doesn't leave voids like thicker line does.

To be honest I only bought this color because its neon green, one of my favorite colors. I knew I was going to use it for backing, I was just curious how it was for a main line.

I tried it in the early 90's and it was horrible on knot breaks... I believe it was the dye.. It just seemed terribly brittle..
