Small Game Fishing

May go hand in hand with some of the bluegill threads.  Went out for peacocks yesterday, saw a few fish swimming but I couldn't make out what they were.  I scored on my second cast with an inline spinner, I was taken all over the canal, first thought it was peacock, it wasn't.  A mayan cichlid that probably didn't weigh more than 6-8 ounces.  IMO these fish ounce for ounce (lol) out fight peacocks hands down, not the first time I've thought this.  Caught about 5 of them.

Probably be a nice addition to your  aquarium. I would like to find one at the fish shop.

I've caught two of them the are tough little fighters with teeth lol. Had one hit a tiny 2 inch swim bait Nd one hit a red eye shad in a canal in Coral Springs.

Caught this little guy out of holiday on Tuesday. When he smashed my chatterbait with fluke trailer I told my brother, "I got a big one". To my surprise when I pulled him away from the pads and saw him, it was just a little Oscar.

Gotta love the small fighters. Chiclids and Oscars!

Aquarium tanks are where I've seen them.

Up here in VA we've not got anything so

interesting, but plenty fun in bluegills, perch...

Are they considered invasive species down in FL?

Yeah, I could look it up, I suppose....
