I recently broke an older carbonlite rod that I really liked (6'6" M/F spinning) and took it to BPS to get it replaced. They didn't have any of the older rods left, so I picked up one of the newer white ones (6'8" M/XF spinning) instead. Has anyone used the newer white carbonlite rods, and, if so, what did you think of it? How does it compare to the older version?

There were a few threads this year on the new models.

 

I was skeptical, but once I tried the new white rods I 

was (still am) extremely impressed. Returned two of my

new black models for the whites. So I have 2 black and

2 white, spinning and casting in each color.

 

The whites are a little thicker than the black, but are as

light, if not a hair lighter than the black. I'm thinking they

are also a tad more sensitive.

They are pretty nice, I think you will be happy with them. I do not own one but my son in law bought one and I fished with it for the day yesterday and I was impressed and a little surprised. I think they are nice rod's.

I broke one of my black ones like you did and they replaced it with the white version (including matching the sale price I got it for).  It has been great, I use the two interchangeably.  However, I did notice that after a while, I liked the look of the white rod better than the black because the black one has those swirl marks in it.  Kind of an OCD thing, I kept trying to clean the swirl marks...

The carbonlites have always been a great rod at that price point, the new ones are extremely lightweight and have the new line ID system built in which is useful if you have numerous rods to keep track of. 

 

Personally I'd rather spend the extra $40 and get a signature series with a way better guide train. A little heavier but overall better build quality.
