Fishing A Jig Without A Weedguard Is Rough....

Featured Replies

I decided to try a weedguard-less jig today. And lets just say it wasn't pretty. I was fishing in pretty clear water, and it seemed as if every cast, I had to stop and remove all the gunk and weeds from my hook. I would want to fish a jig without a bulky weedguard, but the current weedguard-less jigs seem as if they are only good for fishing  extremely clear and weedless waters. Anybody else also experience this?

No. A weed guard is there for a purpose.

I don't remove any weed guards.

Now I do love the shaky head and will have to remove the gunk from that set up.

i never fished one without a weed guard, but you should give the m-pack lures jigs, they have a new looking weed guard they have flippin, football, and swim jigs

The jig that I was fishing with never came with a weedguard. With the majority of my jigs I usually just trim a tiny bit.

Get the jigheads molded with a worm hook if you want to fish jig style with a lot of weeds. If its that nasty slime can't do anything about that except keep your bait off the bottom.

With the jigs you are fishing try to Texas rig them on the jighead instead of threading the whole bait

AND YOUR FISHING ALREADY!?!? I'm jealous man. I have to wait til payday on Friday to get my fishing license. Then I get to go.
