Snapping That Cold Streak

Featured Replies

I am seriously stuck on topwater fishing for Bass. I love the anticipation of a blow-up, I love the blow-up, and I love setting the hook into a bass after a blow-up. I recently got into a very frustrating cold streak as I either kept missing fish or I would just get flat out skunked. I know most people would call me crazy for even considering fishing topwaters up here in Western Canada in March, and would say that my recent cold streak was my own doing. However, I've come to the realization that even if I do get skunked fishing topwater lures, it's much more enjoyable than getting skunked when using any other method. That's not to say that I won't try other techniques; for instance I've been slowly learning how to fish jigs over the last few trips, but it just isn't satisfying for me.

Anyways, finally managed to end my cold streak today with a scrappy little 14 incher, on a Snag Proof Mouse to boot! First fish on a Snag Proof and it absolutely demolished it about 15 feet from shore.

Now...if only I could break out of this ~14 inch fish slump!

Nice topwater bass! What is your water temperature up there?
