Cold Weather Ice Out Garment Gear

OK, we do NOT have any open water here yet. :(  However, it's coming. So, I did a lot of shopping around and found Cabela's "Silver Tec" Base Layer suits on sale, at about 50% of retail. So, I picked up a set - tops & bottoms. I selected the "Heavyweight" construction, as the "Polar Weight" was not available in my sizes. For ice out and cold water fishing conditions, did I make a mistake here? Just curious of what the opinions are amongst our members. Can't do much about it now as I already have the set and I'm ready to give them a whirl. :)

Haven't used the cabelas brand but I wear columbia im I heat layers. Keep me pretty warm. Fishing the Chu at the end of last season I wore the base layer, t shirt, sweatshirt and jacket, and te bottoms and jeans and I was comfortable. Probably around the same temps as it is now, I remember it snowing a few times I was there. Still looking for a quality pair of gloves.

I do not own this product.

I am a fan of the Cabelas brand and the reviews are decent.

I bet you'll be happy with it.

Besides, that Price is Killer & would be tough to beat.

I don't own any Silver Tec gear, but I have several sets of gear from Cabelas. An unlined rain set, a light, a medium and a heavy insulated set. The heavy set is good down to near Zero. If the silver tec follows what I have, the polar weight will be too much unless you're out all day in zero, or below temps.
