Where are you fishing and what are you going to start with?

I don't know yet where I'm going, but most likely to be in Wisconsin.  I don't care for the cluster**** of opening weekend here.

But yeah...I'm stoked and ready to get at 'em.

I usually go out the Monday after opening weekend! Skip the rush like Jeff says.

I know I am planning on going pike fishing on the 9 at my favorite honey hole.

But I have to say I am more than disappointed about bass opener. My normal fishing partner(my brother in law) was told he is on call all that weekend, so no where but home for him.. leaving me with my novice brother.

This has me thinking and putting this out there. Anyone who is looking for a weekend partner this season let me know. I strictly c&r unless you will eat it. I can use my boat (just fyi... older Sears boat, but hey gets me on the lake), or I have no problem meeting and chucking in some gas $$ if we take your boat.

I just want to get stuck like last year. So many times I was open to go and no one to go with on the boat, leaving me to shore fish.

Oh in 2 weeks I am planning to hit lake Pepin.. continuous season on that board water area.

Where are you located?

I'd like to get on Pepin sometime myself.  Sounds fun!

I bet Pepin will be good fishing early season

Yeah they have a great walleye population down there from what I have seen.

Cool, I'm just over in Andover and I have a little boat. Shoot me a PM with some of your info and maybe we can hook up for a outing. I bomb all the north metro lakes as much as I can, usually by myself haha.

Same here, clear, eagle, golden, otter are my main lakes. Pulled my pb on clear (6.2lb 21 in)

Did you have any luck on Pepin? We went out there last week (a warm and very windy Wednesday) and got nothing but a 5# pike that shook at the last second and sliced the finger I had stuck in his gills. But hey, I guess a fish is a fish. But yeah, we've gone down there three years running around this time of year to relieve cabin fever and have never been able to find em. Tough conditions. Cold, muddy water and a lot of current with a ton of space for em to hide. I've never found someone else who has ventured down there to hunt bass so I'm curious as hell if/where you found em.

Also, I would put my hat in the ring as weekend fishing partner. I almost exclusively fish with my father-in-law right now. He has the boat, and we fish 5 weekend tourney's throughout the year. Unfortunately, he doesn't like to get out on the weekends beyond that. I'm 30 and live in Brooklyn Park, so not far from Blaine. I don't have my own boat, but my FIL will let me take his out occasionally. Combined with using yours from time to time, I could double my time on the water this year, which is my goal. Let me know.
