Hello guys, since i'm organizing my soft plastics in boxes i wanted to ask what was the best box to store lures, i'm looking for something that would preserve the plastics and their scents.

For scent preservation, you'll probably have to get some of the waterproof Plano boxes. Otherwise you can use any tackle tray and just add scent before you use them.  

While  you are out fishing, I'd recommend keeping the soft plastics in the bag that they come in, keep the various types of soft plastics grouped together in gallon zip lock freezer bags.  I'm not a big fan of storing soft plastics loose in plano boxes.

 

For longer term storage of soft plastics,  Every so often Walmart has plastic shoe boxes on sale for around a buck a hit.  $20 gets you many boxes so your collection has some room to grow.

 

For longer term storage, you also need to consider shelving, that goes on sale from time to time at Walmart, Lowes & Home Depot.

I actually live in europe, so walmart doesn't exist here neither TW does.

I only fish from the bank since i don't have a boat, keeping the baits in their bags it has proven to be not really helping, so i was thinking to use planos to save space and to have better organization

I would imagine that the boxes with the waterproof seals would suit your needs.

In my experience you can fit less in a box than in packaging. I would keep in in same and then put in a larger bag. Simple. Boxes cost money. Good for hard baits but not for soft baits IMO. If you must just go with Plano 3700 or 3704 and don't worry about scent preservation. Just carry some spare scent with you.

I put all my soft plastics in 3700 Planos last year because thats what the majority of the pros do. However, even though I fish almost every day and fish plastics a majority of the time- it makes little sense. I simply don't go through plastics enough to have them in plans in my opinion. My extra plastics I keep in gallon sized ziplock bags, senkos in one, craws in another, jig trailers in another all in the original packaging. In my opinion this keeps them better. You do not need to worry about the plastics interaction with one another (melted man elaztechs) or colors bleeding. Also, a bit of moisture can wreak havoc on the plastics as well and cause them to bubble. Enough said, now on I am keeping in the original packaging. 

To return to this topic, "better organization" is probably never going to happen, at least it hasn't ever happened for me.   I try hard to get "good enough for now" organization.  It seems like every few weeks I try a different organization scheme.  All of them work kinda ok - none of them work great - classic case of a work in progress.

 

More and more I'm of the opinion that anything other than temporary tackle organization doesn't exist.  It is more or less a nebulous personal goal that seldom exists - real world wise.

I use the gallon bags also. Best method for me. Another plus is they fit in any compartment also.
