good fishing spots?  My brother-in-law and I only fish a couple lakes as a general rule.  One behind his house...which also opens into another lake via a very short canal.  His "Honey Hole" water level has been too low for fishing the past 2 years.  I'd like to try a few other places if available to the public.  I've read canal fishing can be very good, but assume those are found further south.

I keep 2 MH, 1 M and 1 ML (Hurricane which translates to M for bass) casting rods and one MH spinning combo there because of the cost of shipping.  Would love to ship a Heavy and ML casting rod for keeping there, but don't want to take excessive advantage of my relatives.  :teeth3:

We fish an unweighted 10" worm a lot...throwing it into the lily pads and weeds.  I've always taken a few spinnerbaits, and at various times have had good luck with them.  Actually the only big fish caught last year was on one.  Although I always take a few other lures to try, this year I want to concentrate on something other than a worm all the time.  Therefore I am taking a few extra reels this year.  Patriarch XT 40# Performance, supertuned Alphas F (6.8:1 gears) 30# 832, Primmus 12# AN40, Chronarch 100B 12# Siege, Tatula Type R (and already forgot what I put on it last fall :sad78: but think it is 12# fluoro) and considering a Curado 51E 8# mono or possibly a Carbonlite 6# mono.  Probably won't have a chance to fish the last 2 unless I go by myself one day while brother-in-law is working.

I know....excessive information, but this has been one cold year, and I'm one excited dude that can't wait to get out for some serious fishing.  :respect-059:

Without a boat I think you are going to be very limited. There are boast rentals at a number of fish camps in the area and that would open up your fishing posibilities to the St. Johns River where you have plenty of spots to fish. From DeLand you can also access Lake Bearsford. Live shiners for the big ones. Good luck!

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier.  Haven't known my bassresource password for a long time.  Haven't checked my email from another device in so long I couldn't remember user or PW for that either so I couldn't reset my bassresource PW.   :sad78:

Have a 14' dinghy we fish out of.   We fished Little Lake Talmadge and Big Lake Talmadge.  Also Blue Lake once, but caught no fish there.  Brother-in-law wanted to try another lake (don't remember the name), but didn't make it there.   Fish seem to be hitting short the first week.  No fish pushing minnows onto the surface.  Only the occasional fish surfacing.  We caught fish, but not like we usually do.  I didn't do nearly as well as I normally do.

Brother-in-law decided to go out this morning after dropping us off at the airport.  His wife called later, and told me the fish were biting much better, and Don got 7 good ones the short time he was out.  Typical luck for me.  A day late and a dollar short.  :cry3:
