Topwater Color Question

Featured Replies

the popper topic has me wanting to try a few new poppers. thinkin of ordering a couple duo realis. was wondering does color matter much or do fish mostly key in on the disturbance in the water. they have some nice colors im guessing the ghost colors are mostly clear water. would i be good with any of the other colors for stained/muddy water?

I think the fish mostly key in on the disturbance. I've used almost all poppers you cold think of including duo realis and I've been using Prism gill the most and it performs well but personally I think the Rapala skitter pops are better. I hope this helps

It helps to mimic the baitfish in your fishing location.  As Sea Salt mentioned - "the ones that look most natural".

I use realistic patterns on poppers because they aren't being worked as fast as a walking bait. A good color is Bone, in any popper or any baby bass variant and I try to stick to those types of colors.

I fish whatever looks nice to me, because the fish here dont seem to care what color it is. Most of the time its either a red, white, black or transparent bottom.
