St. Croix Avid Or Legend Tournament Spinning

Featured Replies

In my opinion, the 50ish retail dollars is worth it for the LTB.  But I wouldn't complain about having an Avid either.

Full grip or 2 piece, and of course the skeletonized reel seat, I prefer the full cork handle and front cork on a full reel seat so I naturally would buy the Avid. If you like the discomfort of the reel seat and 2 piece grip,,,,go for the LTB. Personally I feel the Avid is the best value on the planet, it's as good as any rod available for twice the money. But in all reality they are both 100% BUILT in the USA and St. Croix, backed for a lifetime,,,,, with the best Customer Support in the industry.....how can you go wrong with either?????

I went ahead and bought the Avid m/xf 6'8" and paired it with my quantum smoke 2500. Was wonder what kind of string I should put on it. I fish a clear lake(bull shoals lake) probably be use some shaky head, jigs, little drop shot, ect.

After finally fishing the LTB spinning rod, I'm sold on the reel seat. It feels great while fishing. I actually felt more in control of the rod/bait while casting. I was able to sneak out after dinner for 45 minutes and hit the neighborhood retention pond. Whacked this fella with a 4 inch Junebug senko. Rod felt great while fishing - glad I didn't swap it for an Avid X.
