Jacksonville Nc Ponds/lakes?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I live in Ohio, but I am currently on vacation at my moms house in NC. I am here visiting her and my sister and niece.

I would love to take my daughter and niece out to a small lake or pond. We just do not want to travel too far. My daughter is turning 8 this weekend while we are down here and she has been catching bass for the last year and a half. However, my niece here has no father and has never caught a bass in her life. So I would love to show her and get her hooked like my daughter is while I am here. It would be awesome if it was right here in town or less than 30 minutes away. If any of the locals could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I am not so much worried about big bass as I am the quantity of them.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Good luck finding bass in the local area. I've tried for the past few years! Your best bet is the quarry lakes off of 17 towards Maysville. Last time I was there it was $5 an angler. There may have been a reduced rate for children. I've never caught much there but there are people that do. The best bass fishing in the area is about 2 hours away near Raleigh.

There's also the blizzard pond chain. These are pay ponds too but that's the extent of my knowledge of them.
