I've been thinking of selling this Rogue Rod & have it listed on a few sites for sale. But I've been thinking I like this baitcast rod, but I'd like to get it more up to date w/ a split grip handle, eva grips, a hook keeper like the ones on Kistler rods & zirconia guides. The cork in front of the reel seat I would like to get it to have either no fore grip or a small fore grip like on Shimano Cumara rods.  I want to keep the same rod length also, don't want it any shorter or longer.

Is it possible to send this rod to a rod builder to redo this rod w/ what I want? If so, roughly what am I looking at to get it done? I have no idea on how to take on a challenge like that, I'd prefer to send it to someone who knows what they are doing.

Can you recommend a rod builder if this can be done?

Thanks

It would probably cost you less to spec out a custom than to send that one for a complete rebuild. Seriously, the labor alone to strip it and start over would cover the labor and much of the materials of a new build.

*My advice is always to keep the rod you like and build another... because there is always a substantial risk that the original blank will not survive the strip down. My option gives you 2 loved rods for only a few bucks more... the alternative could leave you with neither.

I just had the same situation come up. So I took my rod to a local rod builder. I basically wanted him to strip it down to the blank and start grom scratch. He said the same thing as flechero, he said it was possible but would probably end up costing roughly $100- $150 for the build. So for $150 you can have a rebuilt rod or for $200 you could get a brand new rogue with all the newest technology that goes into it. I know it is a tough call. I must say I did not have the rod redone. I sold it and bought a Legend Elite that RW pointed out for $180.

I just checked Rogue.com and your same rod is listed for $200 so you might be able to find it a little cheaper if you do soem diggin'
