Looking for a new baitcaster to throw plastics, mostly 1/8 or 1/4 TRigged plastics, like senkos, baby brush hogs, some 4" flukes, and lite jigs. mostly using 10# fluoro on a 7' mh fast rod.

I'm considering these 2 reels, possibly getting the Lews on sale at a Memorial Day sale so budget is $200 or less.

I'd welcome any opinions or any other reels to consider.

Lews would be my choice.  I have been very happy with the lews I own.  Still own shimano as well, however last 2 years have been picking up more lews.  Both are great reels, lews will offer faster line pickup than the shimano if that is what you want, but in the end both would be great.

My vote would be look online (pm me) and you can get a scorpion xt 1000 nib to your door for under 200. I was casting 1/8 texas rigs with a 5" finesse worm no problems. 

If you can find in stock the daiwa alphas SV  can get them around 200. 

I'm going to finally fish my Team Lite this weekend, I'll let you know how it performs vs the 50

I am a big fan of the 50 series platform Shimano offers. Really feel they are one of best performing reels out there for the money.

Alphas SV. Give in to the sort of dark side.

I have both. The Lew's would be my choice. Casts far, its smooth and its stupid light! Both are great reels tho.

I love my Shimano 50s but the Team Lite is the first LEWS Ive gotten and Im pretty impressed. Its about the same size as a Shimano 50, almost as light, has a ton of details that makes it one of the best looking reels on the market, carbon handle, composite knobs, rubber piece on the thumbar, tasteful porting and just the right amount of gold accents.

I have a Shimano Chronarch 200 that can throw 1/8 ounce crankbait so I think the Shimano 50 can handle it and better.

If you got the money get the lews. I really like the dual breaking better for windy days. On a windy day if I'm trying to throw light stuff I won't even touch my 50 e

The Team Lite doesn't have the dual braking. And the 50 is great in the wind, just add another brake.

The lews has 4 pin internal, and the external brakes, wouldnt that be considered dual brakes? As for the 50e I see a big difference in running one extra brake. Plus you've got the wind blowing your bait back. That's why don't pick up the 50e if I'm casting anything smaller then a 1/4 ounce in heavy wind. Maybe it's just my reels or I can't cast who knows.

Some of the Lews do have the dual braking, but the reel in question has the ACB system centrifugal system. Ive found that casting into the wind with the Shimano VBS ad 1 brake and use a side arm cast if possible. But yeah things under 1/4 oz into the wind gets tricky but its possible as I use my 50s to throw LC 65s in all conditions.

Thanks for the input. I found a Lews online for sale and it's 7.5:1 which I think should be good for plastics.
