Lucky Craft Cranking Rod

Featured Replies

I'm looking at maybe getting the 7mh Lucky Craft cranking stick. But before I pull the trigger, I had a few questions. Would it but suitable to throw chatter baits, small swimbaits and small umbrella rigs with this rod? Other is I didn't find much here on this rods but other sites somewhat rave about the them..... Anyone have hands on experience with one?

I have used this rod on a few outings.  It is a nicely made rod, and for $100 it is a great buy!

I would see it being effective for chatterbaits and spinnerbaits.  I'm not so sure I would have to use it for throwing an umbrella rig though, but I prefer a stiffer rod for that presentation.  I suppose small to midsize swimbaits would work as well, but again on these baits I prefer something more stout.

I have a doybns Champ 733 and a 734. I have a cheap Wright and McGill Teal Crank rod and its OK at best i think. I want to replace the Cranking rod and maybe some of the applications of the Doybns. You see that rod doing just that?

The Lucky Craft cranking rods are glass, they are heavier than graphite but from what I've heard they were supposed to be priced at the $350 mark but then ended up for $150 and now $99. Tackle Tour loved the rods but they are rated higher than they should be and for a small umbrella rig I'd say ok but not for a full size one and yes, a chatterbait can be used with it as well.

I do not use any Dobyns rods, so I would not be able to give you that answer.
