Yozuri Super Soft Hybrid Line

So i posted a little while back on how i was ordering from a site and it had some Yozuri line on sale and i picked it up.  Well I finally got a chance to use it today and I am impressed.  It was the 8lb test and i spooled it on my stradic 2500 FH matched up with my 7' 1" MF St Croix rage rod with the intention of using it to throw my megabasss popx that i received on the fishmas exchange this past christmas.

Well i have to say I am impressed.  it handled well and has to be stronger than the rating.  It was pretty windy out and it blew one of my casts into a brush pile and while i was trying to pull it free, the branch snapped and it had no issues with bringing the branch and lure to hand.  I ended up catching 7 bass, nothing bigger than 16" but it was definitely fun.  The one huge difference for me being almost exclusively a braid guy was the stretch.  I felt like it was a rubber band but after i caught a few and got used to it, it was no big deal.  The other irritation was when spooling.  To get it on my reel without twisting i had to flip the spool label side down and the line holder kept grabbing the line and flipping the spool over.

While I am by no means ready to swap lines on my other rods as of yet, it will definitely be on the list when i replace line on some other reels to see how it handles different situations.

I tried the normal hybrid 12bls and I got a wacky rig caught on the back of a log stuck in the mud, (windy day) I have a 21 ft stratos and I tried to break it free and just brake the line or hook........ No that line and hook pulled my boat right to the stuck hook in the log about 30ft away.. The stuff is no joke

Back in 2011 we had a thread about a great deal on Ultra-Soft - $25 bucks for a 1 pound spool. So, I bought 4 spools: (2) 10lb, (1) 8lb, and (1) 6lb.   FIFTEEN miles of line.   I've finished one of the 5,800 yard spools of 10lb and am working down on the other - it will probably be gone in another 2-3 years. The spools of 8 and 6lb will probably last the rest of my life.

Many people don't care for it but it's a good enough line. Strong, manageable, fairly abrasion resistant, and the price was outstanding.  I have 60 reels with line on them right now and YZ-Ultra-Soft is on 34 of them.  A good line to feed so many reels...
