Ok guys, there is a low pressure pond near my house. Very small. It's really a dammed up creek that's been there for years. Water is pretty clear for my parts. I guess in part to the huge creek supplying it and having good emptying.

Has heavy cover. Only about 4 places to cast. 4 foot deep max on the dam end. I could count 30 bluegill on the top of the water at any place and then an occasional bass would swim by largest one in the 1.5 pound size.

3 huge mud turtles and 10 smaller pond turtles. Pond has lots of action in it for sure. I used mostly natural colors because of the clarity. Pumpkin lizard, sexy shad, then ended up throwing buzz baits, frogs etc lol

The main reason for scouting it out was for my young daughter. She has zero patience and wants a fish immediately and tho I am working on this. it's tough. I'd like to try to get her more acclimated to fishing something other than a night rawer and bobber.

Am I missing something? Is this creek supplying so much new food that they are just not hungry?

Anywhere I can visually see 30 bluegill, some bass, and heavy cover, I would suspect has a giant in there. Keep trying.

Introduce your daughter to the beetlespin. Catches everything from toads to bluegills.

Only four feet deep? If you want to get her away from live bait you could start her off with a 4in. Senko style worm.  Nose hook it with a #4 circle hook and she'll have plenty of action, if you can keep the bluegill at bay. 

 Senko's(green pumpkin/red flake) or Creatures(black/blue flake) by Gary Yamamoto       the bluegills won't take the creatures as much as the senkos.

 I ran into a similar problem with a local pond that no one fishes cause of permission issues. tried other soft plastics and lures of every kind and no luck until I switched to the Gary Y"s.    you really see the difference in a product in those situations.
