North myrtle beach ponds.
Oh my gosh man tell me about it. My wife will set there 8 hours with a book and the sweat pouring off her face and say "ain't this relaxing?" I'm like hell no it's not I'm dying. We got out early this morning and I thought for sure hit the top water blowup and man we got skunked!!! Good lord I'm a pretty darned good fisherman. I give up. I guess I'll set out there and roast tomorrow.

North myrtle beach ponds.
Man the day time bite ain't bad but the night bite is non existent. Most of the water is ponds, golf course ponds or facility ponds. We only fish the older compounds and there are millions of fry on the banks. We landed several including a nice 5'er but man the nite bite at my home is awesome but here it's like there's not a fish is the water lol. Most of these waters are clear. Not gin clear bit way more than my farm ponds at home. I've gotten them down pat during the day with light flouro and some natural stuff but I sure thought we would stay them at night and it has left me baffled to say the least. Thrown every top water item I have. Lol still fun tho

The Ned Rig Resource
Separate the elastics! I learned the hard way. They melt. Unlike plastics.

Happens at least once a year
People are about to fill their pants to get on the water. Forget things.

Fishermans block
Great replies! I went with a friend to a pond on his jon boat yesterday. We fished for 3 hours and got rained out. He caught one dink and I got skunked but it was great just being out there. Sometimes wetting a line for me is just as good as "pullage" use to be for me. Life is good. They will come. Have fun.

What part of this creek channel are you hitting FIRST? Topo maps and PICS!
scenario: Where are you going first? You have never been here. Hey guys, there is a small reservoir close to me and its rather new (less than 5 years old) and was stocked in 08 with 100k fish, bass and crappie. in 2015 another 10k. The PB is 9.6 and i have seen plenty 5, 6 and 7's come out but some days, you dont get one single bite. I have always been a bank beater but with some good electronics, I think that the channel is where to find consistant bass from what Ive read. Check out the topo and the overlay of the channel and tell me what you think. Keep in mind that the deepest part of the lake is 35 -40 feet. I rarely see anyone anchored out in the middle looking like they may be trying to find the channel. Based on the maps, its not that hard. Ill be the first to say that fishing out in the middle isnt as exciting. Then again, I have not hooked up to that hawg in the channel either. Heres pix. ......last one is before the dam was finished.

New bass angler needing advise
One thing that has helped me early. If you walk up to the edge of the water and can see the bottom in 2 feet of water, then choose natural looking lure colors, browns, tans, greens. If its murky, choose dark colors or black, even black and blue together. Also, on clear stuff, lighter line, 6 to 8 pound flurocarbon. Good Luck.

Do we have a fishing superstition thread?
I wouldnt call mine a superstition but If Im hung up underwater. Ill break it off if the hole is golden. Im not risking running them off. Note: I dont use tungsten and high dollar hooks either.

Jon Boat to Bass Boat and how wide is this boat? *PICS*
Thanks for the awesome ideas. I did have to go with a 14/42 rather than a 14/48 because the 14/48 were hard to find and when i did they were a ton higher. Got an 05 alumna craft 14/42 and it's nice. I'll post a build when I start but I currently have a pond boat until I get going. Thanks again guys! You are all awesome with the help.

Monkie, I keep a log of when and where and a matching pic for this reason and this is the only time I've ever had to use it. This girl had a ding or dent on her head near one of her eyes and I just don't think it had always been there. Both fish had the same little ding.

Almost doubled my PB
Oustanding! I saw the lunker program on TV, this is a great idea! You get a $600 replica and the fish lives! That should keep most of them in there. I think the record out of there is what 12 something?

Man o man I have been in a small drought for finding big bass. We have had a lot of rain and the ponds look like chocolate milk. Welp, I have a few ponds that I fish from the bank but I also have 3 that I put my boat in. One is great. I've caught my PB of 7.13 last year at this pond as well. I had 3 hours last night and so I hit it up. It was muddy...not orange but still. After an hour I had thrown a black zoom worm, a black/blue Ned rig, a black and blue jig, then with a rage craw trailer and was getting ready to throw a spinner bait but then..... With a black 4" lizard, I casted into a spot that I had caught a 5 on the spawn last year. It's under heavy cover and I can't skip sitting down so... My lizard landed on the bottom of the tree limb. I get this a lot but this time my lizard was dangling in the water. Well, since it was slow fishing and I hadn't had a bite, I let it set there and pulled it up and down letting it tap the water and go in and out. Since it was up in there deep I thought "hey maybe I'll get lucky" so after about 15 seconds of this I let it fall to the bottom (2 feet deep here) and I pulled it back and let it rest on the surface and this big fat girl took it!!! The entire limb went underwater!!! I set the hook so hard that my back is a little stiff this morning!!!! She fought and fought hard! I knew it was a new PB! Maybe over 8 this time! She went under the boat and I knew it was over but my 30 pound braid and 5/0 hook stayed true. She finally gave up the ghost and I netted her. She was just 3 ounces from last years PB! 7.10. I haven't checked my notes and pics but she may Just be that PB from last year. I just wanted to share. It's been a tough grind for a week for me. A total dinkfest but that's why we go back right?!! For the record her tail was mangled and had open sores on the belly side as well as her stomach. I was sure the spawn was over as its so late in the year but she was in an area that holds beds and was in 2 feet of water but I just don't know. This water has been in the 70's for a month now. Besides her bite I didn't get a bite at all. Nothing. Hence the title I'll take lucky over good any day! Have a great day guys!!! And yes she went back in. Big catch and release guy here. I have also got full video of this. May slap it on YouTube. I'll post a link if I do. It even shows the limb going into the water lol.

Fishing with Braided Line
I use braid on every rod I have except one. 30 lb seaguar green. Watch the clear or clearish water tho. You may have a hard time getting them to hit it because of the braid. I fished yesterday on my 140 lake and half the lake at the creek channel was orange but in the main channel it was clear. Switch over to flouro in that case. They CAN see it (in my opinon)
