  1. So with water in the low 70's I think that the spawn here is about finished. The blugill beds are all full of gunk and trash so it looks over as well. The last 3 trips out have been pretty dinkful. I did have a buddy catch a 27" bass in a super super small farm pond last night but he said he saw it swim up and swirl on the surface so he grabbed a rod with a spinner bait on and let it rip and the big girl took it as it came by. Said it was pure luck as they had been fishing for several hours with just a few dinks.
  2. Im the opposite. MAX that sucker out and pay it off early. If you have a rainy month and are running low in the wallet, then your payment is still low and you wont have to worry about the bank coming to get it.
  3. So, Im planning on doing a new boat in the fall. There is a 200 acre electric motor only lake near me know that has been open about 5 years and the reviews are great. I do have a pond boat but want to keep it and build another. The max boat length for this lake is 14 foot. Ive seen numerous topics on 14/32, 14/36 sized boats but Im not 18 anymore and would like something a little wider to help make it more stable. Take a look at this boat in the picture. This is exactly what I want to do. Casting decks, 2 minn kotas on the rear with 2 big foot switches and a bow mount on the front. From what I gather, Ill need at least 4 batteries, 2 in front and 2 near the rear ran in parallel in order to get the run times to fish all day. This leads to another problem, weight! Im looking at almost 900 total pounds which is exactly the max weight capacity on this 14/48 im wanting to do. I also want to run 2 sep 2 bank chargers. Add in 2 fishermen and shes gonna be heavy. So what do to think about this guys set up and what do you have? Share pics and ideas please! Thanks!
  4. Texas Rigged senko, zoom worm or lizard or craw works for me. If its clear, no braid.
  5. Ive heard it all from that place but I really want to try it as its not far from me. Anyone been? Thanks!
  6. I gotcha now. One way doubles the volts, the other, the amps. I'll make sure I have it down for sure before I go at it. It's good to see you have platform seats on a 15/42 and mine will be the same except 14/48 and I'm hoping it won't be to u stable.
  7. Outstanding! Looks great. Is this a 14/36 or 48? I'll have to read up on running batteroes Ina series. I know how it's done and the benefits but don't know how to do it.
  8. Awesome. I'd love to see your setup if you have any pics. Getaccurate@gmail.com
  9. Hey guys. Going with a new jon boat build. Will have 3 batteries in the back. Would love to do an onboard charger to save hassle. Not up to date on those bank chargers. So would I need a 3 bank? Boat will have 2 minn kota 55's on the back and a minnkota 45 foot controlled on bow. Lake is 200 acres electric only btw hence all the trolling motors lol. Thanks!
  10. Farm pond guy here. 12 foot boat. Deepest pond is 18 feet but most are 8 max. I know at that level the signal cones are small because of the depths. The deeper didn't work well in my opinion. Will be permanent mount on boat. Thanks in advance.
  11. I pick up ALL trash, mine or not.
  12. ok so I live in a small town with a few good farm ponds. One of them being magnificent. I am a very proud person/fisherman and love you show off my trophies. I am full catch and release, never in my life kept a fish I've caught, they all go back so I can do it again. Well, since Google maps and google earth have come out, it has ruined it for some of guys who actually have permission to fish on someone's land. These guys just find a pond on Google earth and just go set up shop, broad daylight. Well this has killed the correct way of asking for permission because now some owners won't let anyone come fish. So, with that being said, I don't post my catches on social media anymore because the few times I did, I would get 12 messages asking where I caught it or my favorite "can you take me sometime?" And most are people you know but don't have anything to do with!!!! So now, when I get that dreaded "where'd ya catch that at?" I try to get out of it by saying at a "buddies" or one of my clients. Furthermore, some get mad when I won't tell them but the reason I don't is because either they will call the owner and ask if they can also fish or even worse, show up and fish!!!! I will only take a fishing buddy with me that takes me to "his" permission ponds. That's fair but honestly, tho I do, I really don't want to do that lol. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it me with the problem? Lol. I'm not an old codger but dang it, why would would I want to take you with me just because we know each other? I'm sure I will get flamed a little for this but I only have a few good places and I'm not telling where they are or taking anyone with me. Disclaimer: the only time I'll fish with no permission is at the beach. There are so many public places there that you don't have to but sometimes you will get asked to leave because of whatever reason and I have always complied peacefully.
  13. I have a coleman crawdad and fish all farm ponds. Last night tho, I had 2 hours and my trolling motor battery was dead. So I hit the closest one from the house. The pond is clear but stained most times and in mid summer, gets so much watermeal on it you cant fish. I take it all. Full backpack and 3 rods. I lean the rods up against the truck and they are ready with the most successful lures from the past at this particular pond. It was slow last night, not even a bluegill bite within the first hour but then! Out of the blue I caught a 4 pounder on a green rage craw at 7:30pm and then after the frogs started croaking I went to a black 3/8 oz buzzbait and landed it in 3 inches of water and caught another 3.6 pounder! From the bank! This pond usually yields one pounders but last night was good. Its post spawn here. Heres some pics.
  14. here in NC the only beds Ive seen are the manhole size bluegill beds and as of yesterday they were on them hot and heavy. So, is the bass next or have then already went?
  15. This is exactly the case! We only had 3 hours and we caught 4. 1 pound to 2.2 pounds and I have never seen such beautiful fish. So fat and their bellies were super bright white and the green lines were blue! their backs were a deep blueish green tint. Heres a pic
  16. Edit: Pics below Guys, I fished a small pond last night and it was deep coffee black but was clear as a bell. My normal routine is to dip a lure down and see how far I can see it and throw either naturals or darks depending but this one had me a little perplexed lol. Its dark black so lets throw black or blue/black but at the same time, I can see the bottom in 3 feet of water so lets throw a pumpkin lizard! So I tried both and caught fish on both but the ponds here in the southeast are either clear stained or mud stained. This one is also 18 feet deep in the center which is about 3 times the depth of the normal ponds here also, its only an acre in size as well. As a bonus, the fish were some of the prettiest, Ive ever caught. The bass had a blueish tint to them and were healthy as horses. Ill try to throw up a pic but just wondered what makeup was responsible for this coffee black water. Thanks guys! Tight lines!
  17. No its not accessible from the banks. Im the only one with permission. Its deep down on a farm.
  18. Sorry, title should have said HIGH producing pond. This site does not always pick up all the keys.
  19. Its still pretty warm here in the Southeast. high 80's but the water has dropped off at my goto pond a full 10 degrees. Its a 3 acre pond. 50 years old and 12 foot deep at the deepest. I use a deeper from the boat. and it shows that most are at the deepest part but they are still tons of fish up near the banks. Especially under one laydown that is most productive. I have not seen any bait fish moving and the water is most of the time murky stained so I cant see anything besides the bluegill and crappie that break the surface from time to time. The deeper sonar is good because I can cast it up deep into a laydown to get the lowdown lol. Ive have worn this pond out since May. Ive gotten a 3,4,5,6,7 and an 8 on 8/13 (all released) and I lost count of the 1's and 2's but something has changed. The last 3 trips have only yielded ONE fish and it was a pound and a half. Now, I don't believe whole heartedly about the moon phases but I just happened to be there on the last new moon even at the best hours and still nothing. Most of my luck has been on a black T rigged Zoom Worm or the Pumpkin/Chartruese lizard. I have caught one big one on a black and blue Jig. Thoughts? Should I down size? Slow my presentation? Change baits?
  20. Yea this fishes back was almost touching the guys chin in pic so I don't think that's an issue with this pic but I know what you mean
  21. Read all the posts. The fish was weighed. We had a scale. I have 3 or 4
