Cape Fear towards Sanford. Also, there used to be a reservoir on the river called Buckhorn; not to be confused with Buckhorn Reservoir northeast of Raleigh. Some big bass in there and catfish the size of logs.

    Look into the haw river. Largest I've caught out of it is 6 lbs.
