Candlewood Lake

Featured Replies

Hey everyone!! Has anyone recently fishing Candlewood Lake? I'm going on a trip June 4th, 5th, and 6th! Any help on current conditions would be great!! Thank you!

just out with my buddy on a small john boat the other day. We launched from hatters town park in danbury. If you go about a quarter mile out, theres a small island you can see from shore; drive over to it and troll in, as to not spook the fish. Its a gravel/ sand bottom with some brush and sparse vegetation. Had some success on the small mouth throwing small tubes on a quarter ounce jig head, as well as a shakey head. If that does't work for you, troll around some of the boat docks on the shore line near that Island and skip your tubes under the docks. You should pull out some fish. Also, look up "latins cove" in the new fairfield portion of the lake. Pretty good fishing in that neck of the woods.

I mostly target small mouth considering its the only body of water in that area that has them, I can fish for largies anywhere. good luck and pm me if you have any more questions. Im no candlewood lake expert, but I might have a little info. good luck

Was there on Sat. the 30th. Water not as clear as in passed years, did not noticed temp. as I caught fish all day long from all my favorite spots so I wasn't looking down at my Lowrance, but I did catch a lot of fish on spinnerbait. Here are a couple of pictures.

Thank you both very much! By what im reading and what you guys have been telling me, I should catch smallies... Which is what I am after, so that works for me! Are these fish post-spawn, pre-spawn, or still spawning?

I have a boat on Candlewood and fish it regularly. The spawn is mostly over however this weather and the full

Moon may put some more fish on beds. But I'd say the spawn is mostly over. I'm sure you will find fish in all 3 phases. Pre spawn, spawn, and post.
