2020 new Shimano reel release?
Ok so I may have a turn of events. I just got my tax return and it was way more than I thought. I know the bantam mgl is a better reel than the curado K BUT is it worth spending twice a Curado k? the tackle junky in me is saying buy the curado and buy 150$ in tackle lol

@jbsoonerfan I wouldn’t be cranking with it but would still like to make a full cast if necessary

2020 new Shimano reel release?
I am looking at purchasing a new Shimano bait caster somewhere in the curado-chronarch price range. I know the curado K is 2 years old. When will they release a new reel in this price range?

CT Northern lmb age and growth rate
Funny RichZ mentions 8-9lb lmb coming from candlewood! That is giant!!!

CT Northern lmb age and growth rate
Lol it does look like that with the fall colors behind me! Im Not giving away my pond but it’s about 1hr North of queens where I live. but I am totally in the dark about the age of bass. All I know is that a bass above 5lbs in the Northaeast is a plus fish. It makes me crazy to think that the CT state record is almost 13lbs. That’s over double the fish pictured above!!!! WT*!

CT Northern lmb age and growth rate
Cabin fever has kicked in... I’ve cleaned and organized all of my gear. Made my list of “NEED” to get, now I am here asking the hard questions. I caught my PB (5lbs 11oz 22.5”) last year on 10/13/19 in a very small but deep (35/40ft) pond in CT. Side note: I think I have caught this fish the previous year and it broke my PB than @5lb 8oz. But back to my question... HOW OLD IS THIS FISH!? From what I have gained from perusing around the internet it’s around 7-10yrs old? My old PB from 2018 in May. Is this the same fish????

Spool hi-speed Shimano Full Tune curado 201i
I just installed the spool speed bearings in my curado 201i... I know the free spool timer test kinda doesn’t mean much however I started off at 7sec with stock bearings and than I obtained 27sec with the new spool bearings an 1 tiny drop of oil to make them a little quieter. I haven’t cast it yet as it’s still freezing in ny but am eager to see how it feels. To be honest this is the first time I’ve done major maintenance to this reel. Took me some time bc I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose anything. The schematic helped a ton. Looking forward to warmer weather

I know you guys aren’t recommending them but have you tried them? Just curious. Sometimes hear say can dominate one’s opinion.

What has helped you improve the most as an angler?
I second this! If you are don’t have spot lock or any other trolling motor GPS anchor and are thinking about it.... DO IT! It has single handed lay changed the way I fish. No worries of blowing away or onto your targeted fishing area. I have a 98’ Alumacraft V16 Lunker Ltd with a 12v 55lb terrova and that thing is awesome. I threw around getting a 24v but unfortunately I don’t have power on the slip where I keep my boat so I have to lug my 12v battery every time so wasn’t really an option.

Spool hi-speed Shimano Full Tune curado 201i
Just bought a full tune From Spool hi-speed for my Shimano curado 201i. The reel has been a little junky and wanted to give it a fresh start. Anyone have experience with this kid? If so did they oil these hybrid ceramic bearings? Runners or no runners?

Broken rod repaired
Torqued The butt of the rod on my jeeps headrest. Happy it broke there instead of the tip! Easy fix

Broken rod repaired
So I broke my Powell max3d 7’2” MH EXF casting rod in between the reel Seat and the butt of the rod. this is a split grip FYI. I spoke to @Delaware Valley Tackle on the phone and they were a great help and set me on the rite way. they advised me to make a clean cut with a hack saw where the break occurred. I than measured the inner diameter of the blank at the cut and found a piece of scrap graphite with an outer diameter close to that spec. I cut the spare piece of donor blank about 6” and sanded both the donor and inside of the rod for better contact surface for the epoxy added later. I added bushings to make for a better fit when shoving inside of the rod blank. After ensuring a snug fit inside of the blank, I added devcon 2 part epoxy liberally to the donor rod blank that would be inside and shoved it 3” toward the top of the rod and 3” toward the butt end. I could not be happier with my first ever attempt To repair a rod. It’s as strong as it was new.

Roland Martin marina @Big O
So I am booked for a 2 day trip to Roland Martin marina with 2 8hr trips. Has anyone been here recently and what was their experience. Me and my buddy are from NY and will be in Miami or 2 weeks for work and have a free weekend, so a guided trip is our best resource since we won't have our rods/gear and no boat. How are the guides there? They told me they go on a rotation.

Deciding on a new Trolling motor 12v or 24v
I am looking to replace my 1998 12V minn Kota 38lb trolling on my '98 Alumacraft Lunker Ltd Mag V16. It is mechanically fine and moves my boat along well unless it's windy. Pretty solid for a 19yr old motor! I am looking at the NEW 12V 55lb terrova with I-Pilot. I am thinking 55lb will be more than enough, however I am wondering how long it will last with just 1 battery. Would 24v 80lb last longer and would it be overkill? I keep my boat moored all summer and take out my battery after I'm done, to charge it. Having a 24v would double my battery weight and also make me charge 2 battery's rather than 1. Is 24v worth that hassle? Also, has anyone successfully installed an external transducer on a terrova? If I opt for the 54" 55lb, I have the option to have the US2 transducer, which is $320 more than the 54" without the us2. Plus us2 only utalizes 2d sonar. whats everyone's opinion.

Lowrance Elite 5 HDI and Hook 7 together??
I bought the transom saver which is like $50 and comes with epoxy. Love it but realized that it's really nothing more than 1/2" plastic cutting board that has some shallow holes drilled in the back so the epoxy has a good place to hold to. Def save money that way. I try not to drill a hole into my boat when I have another option.
- Looking for my First

Minn Kota us2 reviews
d**n, I guess 2d would be good enough

Minn Kota us2 reviews
I am looking at a terrova 12v 55lbs thrust with us2. I will also be looking to add a fishfinder up front with it. I have Lowrance hdi-7 in the back now. Was looking to put and hdi/chirp unit up front but was wondering if the us2 transducer built in supports hdi or dual beam (2d and downscan) if someone could let me know I'd appreciate it.
