  1. ive heard that! I may entertain them
  2. So I am returning my 2nd IRod Jr. Swimbait rod for the same issue, the tip top insert falling out. Ive read this had hapened to some guys online but went ahead and tried to give them a shot. *** is refunding me my Money (got it for $125) and they said they can replace it with whatever I want. I want to keep it at or around that price. Im looking to throw Hudd 68s, MS Slammers, and S-wavers so a rod that can hold 4-5oz. I am looking at the: St. Croix Mojo Bass Swimbait rod 7'9" 1-4oz - $130 Shimano Crucial Swimbait Rod Heavy 7'11" 2-5oz - $190 ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS FROM TACKLEWARHOUSE? I NEED TO GIVE THEM A RESPONSE BY TOMORROW BC I GOT A TRIP CONING UP THANKS
  3. Keitech easy shiner 3.5" in smallmouth magic color. Rigged in a 1/4oz jig head. I was bed fishing.
  4. First swimbait fish was a largemouth 18" 3.5lbs. . Had a nice smallie on that got off.
  5. Woops thought I read that the bearings and spool are different on the citica I. Sorry shimano police
  6. It's funny how company's try to sell you on things by re-naming them. Let's be honest, if u painted the new critica I like a curado I and vices versa you couldn't tell the difference. And shimano will tell you that the curado has the S3D spool which is perfectly balanced and the citica does not. Let's evaluate this "better" spool. That's like balancing a wheel before you put the tire on and saying it will perform better because the wheel is balanced. The line is NOT evenly distributed on the spool, so therefore it doesn't matter lol. I have a curado 201I and love it but I only believe so much BS company's can sell
  7. I fee your pain....I am so tired of using my left-handed hammer with right handed nails. Can't find left handed nails anywhere
  8. That's an absolute monster!!! Lake Erie?
  9. Wow I attached the wrong smallie. That guy was only 2.2lbs. This is the big girl I got from last year. I'm actually surprised that there isn't a huge difference between the 2
  10. Maybe. Well we will consider this an experiment lol. I will measure the mouths of the smallies along with their weight and do the same for largemouth and we can compare. That actually will be pretty interesting to see some results of that. Let me know a couple measurements of the bass you guys catch as well.
  11. This fish was 4lb13oz 21". I would say he has about the size mouth as a 2.5-3lb largemouth. Thoughts?
  12. Is there an eye on the bottom of the hud to attach a treble? Or do u have to rig one?
  13. Yea I definitely see what you are saying and I'm sure I will try a stinger. But wouldn't you think if a 2.5lb smaller can choke a 5.8" keitech they could choke a hud? I'm excited to test this out bc you definitely don't hear of too many guys throwing big baits for smallies
  14. My lake has a prominent weedline about 15-25ft off the bank at about 8-15ft deep. This weedline forms bc they draw the lake down during the winter to kill the shallow weeds. They like to coast up and down the weedline and hunt after spawn, into summer and early fall. I've had great success throwing weedless (6/0 swim bait hook)5.8" keitech swing impact fats along the weed line contour. They also stock this lake with fingerling and smaller trout (rainbow, brown, and brooke) to get the population up. I figure that these dumb stockies are definitely viewed as an easy food source for the bass so I thought the rainbow trout 68 special could fool the big girls into thinking it's easy prey. I'm going to be getting some regular 68 and put a stinger on the top as well but have a feeling that it will catch the grass. As you can see I also got a ms slammer as well to wake and dive to 1-2ft above the weeds. Does this make sense? This is just me trying to think outside of the box. Also there are big largemouth in this lake too. I've heard reports from the tourneys that an 7-8lb largemouth aren't rare.
  15. Thx I'll see if it works this wkd
  16. Oh boy just got a new set up.... Calcutta 201B on IRod 7'8" jr swimbait
  17. Big bait fishing bug has bitten. Shimano Calcutta 201B on a 7'8" IRod Jr. swimbait rod. And of course the MS Slammer 7" Perch. Haven't seen any guys on my lake throwing big baits. Hopefully can show that smallies like big baits too!
  18. I didn't see as many beds this year as I did last year
  19. I have a boat on Candlewood and fish it regularly. The spawn is mostly over however this weather and the full Moon may put some more fish on beds. But I'd say the spawn is mostly over. I'm sure you will find fish in all 3 phases. Pre spawn, spawn, and post.
  20. Was on the lake his weekend. Watched water temps start at 64 to 68 on Sunday afternoon. Thought this was a big spike. Fish were still on beds but feel like they won't be much longer with those water temps
  21. Yea I'm thinking I'll be fine with the 6" hudd. I'm very new to these. If I would have seen these a year ago I would have said its way too big.
  22. So I just picked up a few Huddleston 68 special weedless 6" swimbaits and I intend to use it for smallies. Now there are largemouth up to 10+ pounds in this lake and I wouldn't be surprised to see a 7lb smallie in this lake. This shouldn't be too big for smallies rite? You don't see to many guys chucking big baits for smallies. I've seen umbrella rigs but not many swim baits. Anyone have any success on them for smallies?
  23. So I just downloaded the Navionics app on my iPhone for $9.99 and let me tell us it's worth every penny. The topography maps are amazing and there is even some ways to share Waypoints and small notes for them. It is really nice to do some research on your phone or iPad. I highly recommend!
