Featured Replies

Im stationed at NS mayport and have been looking everywhere for a pond that has fish in it. There is a few topics on here about jax ponds but most of those are all the way across the city I'm looking to stay pretty local around the mayport maybe unf area.

Yea I caught the Saratoga out of Mayport a couple times.. Ragged ole ship she was. I saltwater fished there a lot during bluefish runs. As far as ponds, I don't recall a one.

Best wishes & stay safe!

I was stationed in Mayport many yrs ago, and had the same problem.  My friend and I used to rent a boat and trailer on the base and pull it down to Palatka to fish the St Johns River, very gd bass and crappie fishing.  If this is not an option you could find local bass clubs and inquire about boaters who would be willing to take you out fishing.  Also take a look at some of the local golf courses, make sure you ask for permission.  Thank you for your service to our country.

Check out Hannah Park, its right where you are. It has several ponds with big bass, I'd try worms, Frogs(where theirs cover), and Jigs. if you look at a map, their is a big pond(20+acres) and a couple small ones, the small ones are less pressured and have better floating grass cover. The Park is literally probably less than 15-20 mins away! Look it up.
