Roof Rack For Rods On Sedan

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for a product that can hold your rods on the roof the car. I drive a sedan with back seats that don't come down due to the hybrid battery.

I've only seen a setup from a distance where a sedan had around 4-5 rods on the roof of the car. Looked like a quality setup. Not trying to spend a arm and leg over it since I can still travel as of right now with my front seat propped all the way back and down with the rods laying on them.

Pvc pipe. 6-8 diameter should 2 rods with the reels. Then be sure to buy the end caps.

Or put all your rods in 1 pipe and keep your reels inside your car.

Maybe use tie downs or bungee cords to attach to roof. If you don't have a way to tie down then look for somthing with magnets or suction cups. Just an idea I always had.

I got a Yakima roof rack because Thule didn't make one for my model sedan.  Yakima cost a bit less.  Guy at Online store suggested a ski rack for the rods as apparently others had put one to the same use.  I put a Porta-Bote on one side and about 10 rods in the ski rack on the other side.  Not cheap.  Tubes would be okay if you don't mind taking reels off and then mounting and stringing the rod once at the lake (river, pond, stream, etc.), then taking the reels back off before going home.  Being somewhat lazy, I prefer to keep the reels on my rods.  Also mu eyes weren't that good in my youth, and don't seem to have improved with age like a good wine so I avoid stringing a line anymore than necessary.  :teeth:  You could use one of those huge rod tubes from TW and leave the reel on.
