Sport Fisher 120

Featured Replies

I just got my first boat, a sport fisher 120. It's the perfect boat for me as I spend a lot of time by myself on the water. The question I have is, it has a bow mount trolling motor and I do a lot of fishing in a river. What is the easiest way to load it on a trailer by myself. With the tm I don't think I could power load. Luckily, the boat is light enough that I was able to dunk the trailer and muscle it on, but it was time consuming and I'm sure would have been very entertaining to watch. LOL

Drive the boat as fast as you can towards the trailer and pick up the trolling motor as late as possible. Winch the rest of the way up. The trick id finding the "sweet spot" for your boat and trailer to where your boat will rest on the trailer so that you can hop off (probably end up having to climb around the trailer) and winch the rest of the way up. Another method would be to tie a rope to the bow of your boat, stand in between your trailer and tow vehicle, and pull it up until you can winch it the rest of the way. Either way you're probably going to get a little wet.

I do what minnow said and step off on the trailer to hook up the winch. I have a plastic board that is bolted to the trailer that has has a no slip surface. Bought it at Bass pro I think.  I added no slip that I cut into strips and it sticks to the top edge of the trailer.  The no slip is skate board material, cheaper than stuff in Lowes.

You could make the same thing from wood or metal and add a no slip surface.

That's exactly what I did. Tied a rope to the boat and stood between boat and trailer and pulled it up. Luckily it's a light boat. Thanks for the responses.
