Are there times when a jig(flipping/pitching) with a EWG hook will be better than a jig w/ typical hook?

Or is it personal preference?

The only reason for EWG hooks is bait size.

For example no one fishes senkos with a straight shank hook because the GAP isnt wide enough to properly rig the bait.

An EWG hook on a jig would probably just make the weedgaurd longer and be less enticing to bass and a lot harder to set the hook.

I dont think it is too common...They actually work well and dont have long weedguards.... Have only seen them made by one company. Only thing I can think of is for bigger trailers or for a different trailer angle. Hooksets are pretty good, easier sometimes...  I like them just cant find them much, wondering if the jig experts knew any negatives about them.

EWG would be useful depending on your trailer.  Stuff like grubs and smalls craws, not so much.  However if you like to use creature baits as trailers EWG is probably the way to go.
