im sorry if this is not the right area for this (if not please move). i need to repair a rod that i have. it seams that the reel seat apoxy melted? broke loose spun and hardened again in the ron spot. This casing mu seat to be out of line with the guides. is thear any thing i can do?a way to heat it up and spin?....or can it be removed and replaced i have lots of rod building suplys left to me by my grand dad but have not ever built a rod. my dad has fixed stuff like this befor but i havent asked him about it yet(kinda want ti learn on my own)

Was this in a car, laying in the sun, etc., when this happened? Usually if the epoxy/adhesive melts there will be some leaks. Do you see any? Othewise, I might be thinking the reel seat is loose and has moved. Can you move it now at all now?

If it has melted, moved and hardened, you can use a heat gun to soften it back up again and reposition.

If it is loose, several things can do. Can remove reel seat (and of course grips) and re-glue, or, can get some syringes (http://www.mudhole.com/Shop-Our-Catalog/Rod-Building-Supplies/Flexcoat-3CC-Color-Coded-Syringes-Set-of-2), drill holes in the reel seat to fit syringe tip and inject more epoxy in them. Obviously not as good as removing and reglueing, but will should stop it from moving and last a while.

it was in storage, and yeah it leacked out around the top reel seat clampand down the handel :).but its hard now and the seat wont budge ill try a heat gun.and if it remove it. can i use the heat gun to remove the handel/seat assembly?

I wouldn't try to remove it totally, just rotate it back to its correct position. You probably won't be able to remove it anyway since the blank is tapered unless you remove all of the guides.

Be very careful with the heat gun, blanks don't really like heat and could melt or distort if you aren't careful.
