Robo Worm Hook

Featured Replies

I'm going to order some 4.5" robo worms with plans to try them on a drop shot. What style hook and size do you suggest?

Thanks

Joe

I like the owner mosquito hooks in #4 and #2 sizes. The bulk packs at tackle warehouse are a great deal.

If you nose hook the worn a mosquito style hook works good, size 1 for 4 1/2, 5 & 6" Roboworms, look at how Aaron Martens places the hook point.

For weedless skin hooked worm drop shot rig use Owner #5133 size 1 for the 4 1/2 & 5", size 1/0 for 6".

Also a good hook for split or slip, shot rig.

I nose hook the worms like Aaron does, too. I also use the #5133 size 1 down shot hooks for weedless rigging, but I'm curious why you use the #1 Mosquitos? The #2 size is a go-to for me, and as of yet I've never lost a fish due to hook failure. Of course, I probably don't catch the same size fish as you. :D

Started off using size 4's, they work OK until you hook a 4+ in the hard upper lip, very difficult to get the small hook out. Size 1 is very near a size 2, little heavier wire and a lot easier to unhook with needle nose pliers without bending the hook out of shape. The larger size hook doesn't seem to affect the bass strike ratio and if you stick a 6+ it's a lot easier to land the fish without the hook tearing out of soft mouth tissue.

Cool I've never thought of it that way before but it does make sense. I have had trouble getting the size 4 hooks out of 3 and 4 lbers, bent a couple that I was able I bend back into place but it could've injured the fish.

X2.

I like the mosquito hooks but came across some circle hooks cheap been using them and haven't really noticed a difference
