Has It Been Tough For Everyone Else In South Ga?

Recommended Posts

Man this week has been tough, the 95+ degree temps aren't helping lol today I caught four bass on 4 different lures, I just couldn't put anything together at all. That's pretty much how its been all week, how about all of yall? Catching some good fish?

I've been going out... Probably not a good idea because I don't have a neck gaiter or any long sleeves, I have no idea what happened to all mine.

It's been tough... All of my daytime fish have come on jigs around bigger shady docks or flipping and pitching into shady nasty cover in deeper coves. At night they're everywhere eating everything.

I need to get better lights on my boat before I start night fishing... There are so many stumps where I fish I wanna make sure I can see them.

I haven't been since last saturday. Early morning as soon as my lures hit the water they were hitting them missed a few with a frog then caught 5 back to back in open water in a small pond. After about 1030 11 I didn't get another bite at all with several different kinds of lures and soft plastics

I managed a couple hours of fishing this past Sunday.  Unfortunately do to the amount of time I had I ended up a local pond that doesn't always produce.  All I caught was a few pickerel.  Not a single bass bite even though I can usually catch at least one or two at this pond.  I am headed back out tomorrow for a more serious session, and plan to hit up some better water.  It is supposed to get close to 100 here tomorrow.  Since I just bought some new deep diving cranks, I am kind of looking forward to the heat in hopes that it will drive them deep so I can use the new lures.  I just hope the heat doesn't completely turn the bite off.  I has been almost a month since I have gotten a decent trip in so I have all my appendages crossed that it is a good day.  I just wish there was going to be more cloud cover.  It is going to be hot bright day.  Double up on the sunscreen if you are going out at all.

i'm in middle GA but it's about the same deal here.... hot is an understatement.  I'm contemplating some night fishing this weekend myself.  It's just so hot and pretty busy with the pleasure boaters as of late...

either way i doubt you'll see me fishing between noon and about 4 pm as I just don't care to do much of anything in the triple digit degrees

I managed to get out this past Saturday for a bit.  I only managed about 3 hours of fishing before the heat and wind was too much.  However, I did manage to pull in two small ones before I gave up.  There were a few bites I missed the hookset on though so it could have been a bit higher.  Either way the bite is definitely slowing down around here too.

At least for me, it was a bit of a win though.  The place I went to is still pretty new to me (been there less than 6 times).  When I first started fishing there a few weeks ago I paid attention to the type of forage, the water clarity, etc.  Using this I went back and thought about the type of lure, and the colors.  Both of the fish I caught on Saturday were both on lures I picked specifically for this location.  So for me this was a win as it is one of the first times I have really taken the time to evaluate conditions, determine a lure type/color, and actually caught fish, all without input from anyone.  It might be a small win for most of you, but for someone that has been doing this less than a year being able to evaluate conditions and select an appropriate lure is still something I am working on.  Unfortunately, the deep divers I was hoping to catch some on didn't pay off, but I didn't really give them the time and effort I should have due to the weather.

Although I feel like it was a productive day I have a feeling I learned a lesson though.  Going out in a kayak in 100 degree weather just don't suit my constitution very well.  Between the long hours I have been putting in at work and the lack of sleep that corresponds combined with the effort of padding around in triple digit temps wore me out so bad I spent the rest of the day and much of the next day passed out.  As a result I don't know that I will be heading out in the kayak much when temps are supposed to be over say 95 degrees.  Time to find some new bank fishing locations.

I live outside of Columbus, Ga., and the bite has been off everywhere me and my wife have been fishing.  Even at our honey hole, the bites have been few and far between.  I think this heat has maybe depleted some of the oxygen in the water?
