Frog Skirt Legs

How long do you like skirt legs on your frog? I'm looking for the best walk the dog action for Live Target and Booyah frogs. They walk good but was wondering if the legs matter

I don't know about those frogs, but I usually cut about an inch off of spro frogs and kvd frogs. I also cut them at an angle where the outer legs are the longest. I don't think it helps the action too much, but it looks better to me.

Well shorter legs make them pivot faster/easier. Longer ones provide more flutter though. Depending on your personal preference you could want them anywhere- but I normally like the skirts slightly shorter than the body unless I'm making a specific frog.

Be careful not to cut the legs too short. I chopped a couple of inches off the legs on a spro frog once, and it messed up the walking action. It would bob up and down when it walked instead of having a good smooth walk that spit a little water. I guess the legs helped it sit a little flatter on the water. It sat more vertical with the legs cut too short. I fished it forever thinking it wouldn't matter. Didn't get bit like it should. Maybe it just messed up my confidence.

Should the lengths be different between the two legs?

I don't think it would affect it TOO much if they weren't even, but you should cut them even. I don't think it would help. If anything it would screw up the walk a little. It would walk a smidge farther to one side than the other.

I have heard advice all over the place with the trimming of the frog's legs. I've heard to cut them uneven so they'll walk. I've heard short, long, inside to out, outside to in. And  from the pros. They all seem to have their different ideas. Dean Rojas and Ish Monroe are two of the premier frog experts. You can check out their tips.

The morale of the story is you don't have to cut them at all. They walk just fine without doing anything to them.

I've had success trimming one side an inch shorter than the other on my Live Targets. For me, it's easier to walk. Another tip I picked up is to stuff two or three Carolina rig beads (creating a rattle) inside the hollow bellow through the hole near the rear. I then super glue the hole to keep water out. As mentioned above, I've heard all kinds of different ideas... I picked up these tips from a Bassmaster Winning Ways show a couple of years ago.
