Cabels's or Bass Pro shops
Glad to hear that! Lou and his wife and great people and run a fantastic business. He's incredibly knowledgeable and will share any info he has on local reports and he won't try to sell you something you don't need. They have a two week annual spring sale in late Feb / early March, same deal 20% off the store. Enjoy the new gear!

Cabels's or Bass Pro shops
I live 25 minutes from Cabela's in Hamburg and I'm always disappointed in their stock. Was just out there Tuesday and couldn't find what I needed. IMO, Wacky Worm blows them both away in terms of selection of lures, terminal, rods and reels. Plus, they're having their annual sale June 18 - 20, 20% OFF the entire store. Store will be open 9am - 6pm during the sale and the address is 1222 Interchange Rd, Gilbert, PA 18331

Blue Marsh Lake Pennsylvania
Check out Due North Fishing on Facebook or Instagram! Mitch started guiding on Blue Marsh last year, is always on the lake and shares some great insight on how to catch fish the lake. He just put together a great bag there yesterday.

Need An Opinion On This Line Of Rods.
I own the Max 3D 712 MLEF and it's my favorite rod by far. I use primarily for drop shotting and other finesse techniques. The rod is super light weight, sensitive and well built. I have a few Diesels, an original Max, an Endurance and the 3D... All are quality rods and perform how you expect them to for what you pay for each. With Powell's new pricing structure, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better value.

Frog Skirt Legs
I've had success trimming one side an inch shorter than the other on my Live Targets. For me, it's easier to walk. Another tip I picked up is to stuff two or three Carolina rig beads (creating a rattle) inside the hollow bellow through the hole near the rear. I then super glue the hole to keep water out. As mentioned above, I've heard all kinds of different ideas... I picked up these tips from a Bassmaster Winning Ways show a couple of years ago.

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Good to hear. I was out with my buddy on his boat on Friday morning for a few hours. Water temp was 41 - 43. No bites, but was just out checking and tuning gear. I actually joined A town Hawghunters this year. I stopped down at the Nockamixon tourney on Saturday. Two fish over 6lbs were caught. I heard Beltzville was a much tougher day, I think only two boats weighed fish. HH is a great club with great guys, I'm looking forward to fishing my first tourney next Sunday.

Elk River, Maryland
Hi all - I'm fishing my first tournament next Sunday at Elk River in MD, launching out of Elk Neck State Park. I've found next to nothing about this waterway on the Interweb. I'm looking for some (any) insight, recent reports or general info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Yeah, I was really surprised (and excited) to see the photos. The club has been posting pics on Facebook almost every day and it wasn't looking too good as of Sunday. My buddy and I were hoping to get out on Friday but the forecast is calling for 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms... Mother Nature is relentless!

Beltzville is open and docks are in! I just saw a Facebook post by the Hawghunters of Allentown. FINALLY!

Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
My apologies for not responding sooner... I'd be happy to share some insight... Beltzville can definitely be a challenge and more times than not, lives up to its reputation as "The Dead Sea." That being said, I've also had great days there. I like fishing the dam, a few select coves, up the no wake zone and finding structure along the shoreline of the main lake. The power line stretch is very popular and shallow. There's also some nice stumps across from the Pine Run launch, Personally, I haven't done great at either spot. Over the past three years, I've been most successful with a dropshot. Have done decent on cranks and jerkbaits in the Spring. My buddy likes to throw Texas-rigged Paca Craws and has done well with a Bama Rig too. We both started getting into Jigs last year and both caught a few... this will be my primary focus this year. I hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know. I'm still holding out hope that it'll be open by Friday, though that seems to a little too optimistic at this point.

Prescription Sunglasses For Fishing
I just picked up my Oakley Gas Cans with my new prescription. Previously I had the Black Iridium lenses which I was not impressed with on the water. I went with the Deep Blue lenses this time because they're supposedly made for water applications. I guess I'll find out as soon as we get some soft water around here.

Jerk Baits, What Line Are You Using???
I've been running 10lb fluoro the last few years, but am switching to 10lb braid with a fluoro leader this year. Do you tie directly (if so, what knot) or use a swivel?

- Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Word is because of the bad weather, Wacky Worm extended its Spring Sale through March 15. 20% off all rods & reels, 30% off all Quantum rods & reels, 10% off pretty much everything else. I've made the trip twice in two weeks, a third may be in order.- Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
Over the weekend, Coplay News Agency posted that there is 17" of ice on Leaser Lake. I'm imagining it's similar or more on Beltzville, Nock, etc. I hope this forecasted warm up comes to fruition.- The New Revos Hate Me.....sx Gen 3 Trouble.
I took my two brand new Gen 3 SXs out yesterday for the first time. One performed flawlessly, while the other had the previously mentioned problem. I'm sending it directly to Abu with hopes of receiving a brand new one. Clearly, something went wrong with Gen3 SX production as this is, unfortunately, a fairly common issue. How did you resolve the issue, TNBassin'?- Biggest Bass In Pa (Possible Hoax?)
Beltzville is my home lake. I agree it holds some nice fish, but it's also one of the toughest lakes I've ever fished. The best I've ever managed was a 5lb pre-spawn female chock-full of eggs. I'd like to think that there are honest people out there in the fishing community, especially in my own back yard, but I don't believe this one bit.- Drop Shotting
Completely agree with this combo. Hooked my biggest LM on it last year, 5lber.- Best Rod Under $100
Agreed. Just picked up two more on sale at a local Tackle Shop this weekend. I'm up to 4 Diesels now (2 - 723CEFs, 1 705CB, 1 6103MEF). Quality rods and easy on the wallet!- Black Lake, Ny
I will be returning to Black Lake for a third consecutive year June 18-25. We will be staying a McClear's again. Great facilities and great people. The fishing, simply put, is incredible. The past two years we went up in the middle of July and I easily caught more than 100 bass in a week's time. I'm expecting even better numbers going up earlier this year. We target the edges of weedlines, shorelines of islands and rocky shoals. My go-to bait up there is a black w/ blue flake 4" or 5" Senko Texas rigged w/ a 1/32 or 1/16 oz bullet weight. LM Bass average about 1 1/2 lb. My PB last year was 4.5 lb LM. We also got into some nice Smallies last year. They seem to school up at certain points and rocky shoals. Spinnerbaits can also work well and will also attract Pike. Topwater action can be awesome in the early mornings and evenings. The lake can get VERY weedy. That being said, I never had any success with crankbaits or stickbaits but I have read reports of guys who do very well with them. Beware that the lake is shallow. Unfortunately for us last year one of the guys in our group, who has been going to BL for 25 years, wrecked his lower unit when he hit a rock because the lake was at a lower level than normal. Just be careful around points. The best thing about BL is that it's a fisherman's lake. In 2 years we may have seen 2 jet skis. If you haven't already I would strongly suggest picking up a Hotspots Map. We have a dozen or so spots that have always produced and will be trying some new spots this year in hopes of finding some bigger fish. Also, Black Lake Fishing Report Forum is the best online resource I have found for up-to-date fishing reports. You'll find that it's a very special lake. Best of luck and let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know.- Black Lake NY
I fished Black Lake the week after July 4th last year and I'm happy to say that I'll be returning the same time this year. I've already started the countdown. We stayed at McLear's. Our campsite was less than 50 yards from our dock. Beautiful, clean campground. Between 5 guys I'd say we caught well over 400 Bass that week. My buddy also hooked into about five Northerns and three 10 lb class cats. Our LM's averaged about 1.5 lbs and they were all beautiful, healthy fish. You can pack light. We caught everything on Worms and Spinnerbaits. I tried throwing some Cranks, Buzzbaits and Jerkbaits but didn't have any luck. My buddy swore by 7'' black Berkley power worms but I had more luck with Senkos. Color didn't seem to matter for me. The lake is a bass fisherman's paradise. During the week we saw a maximum of two jet skis. Everyone who goes to Black Lake, goes to fish. At least that was my experience. Best of luck up there. You'll have an awesome time.- Black Lake, NY
Hey everyone, hope you're all having a great season now that it's in full swing. I'm going to Black Lake, NY for my first time on Saturday and I'm looking for any useful information I can get my hands on. I've read nothing but good things about the lake and was wondering if anyone is familar with the place. I'm going with a couple guys who have experience up there, but I really like to do my research, especially for a new lake. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help and have a happy and safe 4th!- Snakes
I have to agree with you on this one. ditto. really glad to know there's guys out there who think alike on this subject.- New Guy from PA

This is an awesome site with a lot of great members. Good luck to everyone on the upcoming season. Cheers, Evan - Nepa, North Jersey Ice Out Predictions!
