In the market for a new bait caster, and could use some advice. I have a reel up for sale and am being offered a president in trade. I've had my eye on the supreme but the president is a more expensive and can't find any reviews pitting them against one another. Anybody have any thought?

I'm not saying you should make the trade or not. What I will say is that the President is one of the most highly recommended spinning reels on the forum and one of the most highly rated on the market. I love mine and will be getting another one or two shortly. So there's that.

Go to the pflueger website, you will see that the President baitcast does not exist.

Lol, I mean...it does though. When makers stop making a reel they generally take it off their site. I think they stop producing it last year or so. Google Pflueger president baitcaster. Cabelas, BPS, tackleware house all used to sell them.

It's really just a matter of features. Both reels are are on the same platform (shared with ABU, Lews, BPS and others) and should serve well if they've been cared for at all.

I have both. I cannot tell the difference between the two while I am fishing. When I am sitting at home on my couch the supreme is better but that's about the extent of its premium offering. Both are great, neither are Shimanos.

Yes, yes, yes and more yes. I have that exact model the 201G6. It's a tank. 2 thumbs up and both big toes too

Just incase anybody was wondering, the president baitcaster works like a dream. The citica was gone so I couldn't get that but am very satisfied with the president. It's an older model so it's a little bit bigger than modern reels but it casts light lures without a problem and heavier lures ever better. It's reels very smooth as well.

As far as older reels go for baitcasters, i came across a couple old bantam citicas.. very smooth. I like the older reels. Thinkin about gettin one for a swim bait outfit. As far a pflueger baitcasters, I'd like to try the supreme
